  • Patent number: 9172814
Abstract: Systems, methods, and computer-readable media for facilitating call continuity when transferring calls between mobile access networks to voice over internet protocol networks. The method includes recognizing availability of a voice over internet protocol network during a voice call established via a wireless access network. Thereafter, a data connection between a user device and the voice over internet protocol network is established. A transfer of the voice call from the wireless access network to the voice over internet protocol network is initiated by initiating a three-way call. Such a three-way call includes a first portion routed to a destination device via a public switch telephone network and a second portion routed to the user device via the voice over internet protocol network.

  • Patent number: 9167454
Abstract: A wireless communication system has wireless base stations that serve wireless communication devices located in a plurality of wireless communication sectors. The wireless communication devices have wireless device types. The wireless base stations generate performance data that characterizes the performance of the wireless device types in the wireless communication sectors. A data processing system processes the performance data to associate an abnormal condition with one of the wireless device types in one of the wireless communication sectors. The data processing system generates notice data for the one or more wireless device types associated with an abnormal condition. The wireless base stations broadcast the notice data in a Long Term Evolution (LTE) System Information Block (SIB). The notice data identifies the wireless device type. The wireless communication devices decode the LTE SIB to identify the notice data and the wireless device type.

  • Patent number: 9155036
Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for compelling a cell selection metric to indicate that a wireless cell is not suitable for communications. In a particular embodiment, a method provides receiving system information from a base station of a visited wireless communication network. The method further provides calculating a cell selection metric from cell selection parameters within the system information and a cell selection offset stored in the wireless communication device, wherein the cell selection offset causes the cell selection metric to indicate an unsuitable wireless cell. The method further provides receiving a request for a data connection from an application executing on the wireless communication device and, in response to the request, recalculating the cell selection metric from the cell selection parameters without the cell selection offset. The method further provides determining whether the wireless cell is suitable for communications based on the cell selection metric.

  • Patent number: 9154911
Abstract: A wireless communication system generates operating information indicating if a monitoring wireless communication device is in active mode or in idle mode for a wireless data service. The wireless system receives location information that indicates geographic locations of a monitored wireless communication device for delivery to the monitoring wireless communication device. The system stores the location information if the monitoring wireless communication device is in idle mode. The system wirelessly transfers the location information to the monitoring wireless communication device if the monitoring wireless communication device is in active mode. If the monitoring wireless communication device transitions from idle mode to active mode and has stored location information, the system generates summary location data for the monitored wireless communication device based on the stored location information and wirelessly transfers the summary location data to the monitoring wireless communication device.
