  • Patent number: 7149504
Abstract: A method and system for managing location polling intervals is provided. A location determining element will determine a mobile station's current location and will compare the current location to a designated location. Based on the comparison between the current location and the designated location, the location determining element will compute a next time to determine the mobile station's current location. This process will repeat until the mobile station is located at or within a range of the designated location. Once the mobile station is located at or within the range of the designated location, the location determining element will notify a content server, which will provide specific content to the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 7146147
Abstract: A system and method for providing wireless communication services to passengers of an aircraft. An incoming signal is received from a base station at an external antenna on the aircraft. The incoming signal is converted to a low-energy signal type to be conveyed across a low-energy transmission medium. The low-energy signal may be light energy and the low-energy transmission medium may be a fiber optic cable, for example. The signal is converted to a signal type that can be transmitted into the passenger compartment for reception by one or more wireless handsets. Outgoing signals transmitted by the one or more wireless handsets may also be received and converted to low-energy signals for transmission on a low-energy signal path, which may be the same as or different from the incoming signal path. The outgoing signals may then be transmitted through an external antenna on the aircraft to be received by a base station.

  • Patent number: 7142657
Abstract: In a telecommunications network having switching points (such as SSPs and/or MSCs) controlled by a control point (such as an SCP), the switching points are provisioned to send messages to the control point when they encounter trigger conditions during processing of a call to a called station that has a forward-to number. When the control point receives the messages, it determines whether a loop condition exists, i.e., whether the call has already been forwarded from the forward-to number. If the control point determines that a loop condition exists, the control point instructs the switching point so as not to forward the call to the forward-to number.

  • Patent number: 7130641
Abstract: A method and system for controlling location-determination in a wireless communication system. A rules engine can be positioned in a communication path between a location-based service (such as a PSAP) and a location-determination system (such as an MPC) and can cache the location of a wireless communication device as determined by the location-determination system. The next time the location-based service sends a position request to the location-determination system, the rules engine can then intercept the request and provide the cached location in a response without passing the request along to the location-determination system. In another embodiment, a rules engine external to a location-determination system can push logic to the location-determination system, to cause the location-determination system to carry out useful functions such as determining if a wireless communication device is fixed or mobile, setting a cache timer, and/or setting an overlap threshold for use in an overlapping circles analysis.

  • Patent number: 7127675
Abstract: A method and system for establishing software documentation is provided. Rather than being static, the set of user accessible software documentation for a particular software program could be dynamically updated. The software documentation set accessible by the user may be defined by the configuration state of one or more configuration parameters at any given time. Once the states of the configuration parameters are determined, the program will dynamically update the set of accessible software documentation based at least in part on the configuration states of the configuration parameters. Thus, for any configuration state, only software documentation deemed relevant to the state of the software application could be made accessible to the user, thereby providing a more concise, focused and easily navigable set of software documentation.
