Abstract: A heat-transferable security stamp is provided including a carrier sheet, a top coat layer, at least one design layer between the carrier sheet and the top coat layer, a release layer between the carrier sheet and the design layer, and a base coat layer between the release layer and the design layer. The release layer includes a water-borne release component. The base coat layer includes a water-borne base coat component. The design layer includes a water-borne design component. The top coat layer includes a water-borne top coat component. The carrier sheet is resistant to heat above a predetermined heat transfer temperature. The adhesive release component of the release layer is operative to secure the carrier sheet to the base coat layer at temperatures below the heat transfer temperature and to permit release of the carrier sheet from the base coat layer at temperatures above the heat transfer temperature.

Abstract: A flush valve assembly for a water tank of a water closet which includes a first valve member which can be secured to the water tank and has a base sleeve position including a radiused inlet to thereby increase the discharge coefficient of the valve opening. A second valve member is coaxially and slidably mounted with respect to the first valve member so that the valve opening is created between the first and second valve members when the second valve member is removed from the first valve member. The second valve member is slidably movable between a first rest position, wherein the second valve member is seated on the base sleeve portion of the first valve member so that water cannot pass through the valve opening, and a second position, wherein the second valve member is removed from the base sleeve portion of the first valve member so that water can pass through the valve opening.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for producing an oral sustained-release pharmaceutical composition of felodipine. The process includes mixing together felodipine with at least an ionic surfactant or hydrophilic polymer, and at least a release-controlling excipient. The pharmaceutical composition of felodipine produced by the process of the present invention possesses the enhanced dissolution rate of the insoluble drug of felodipine, whereas the sustained releasing profile and superior bioavailability of the produced pharmaceutical composition of felodipine are retained.

Abstract: An air filter assembly comprises a plastic frame containing an air permeable filter media. The media is corrugated to provide a series of pleats. Some of the pleats can be folded more compactly than others, so that the media can fit in various size frames. This can reduce the inventory of filter manufacturers and dealers. The filter frame can be plastic injection molded with integral living hinges to enable the frame to fold from a relatively flat shape to a more box-like structure. The frame includes one or more flip-up saw tooth racks that help define a main series of chambers plus a storage chamber. The main series of chambers supports a portion of the media that is more loosely folded for filtering air. The storage chamber is adjacent the main air stream and holds the more compactly folded, excess pleats.

Abstract: An improved case packer machine is disclosed, of the type where containers are dropped through grid fingers to an empty case positioned on a lift table. The case packer machine of the present invention includes a flap opener which includes a pair of shoes mounted to an air cylinder. The shoes are extended by the air cylinder to contact and open the leading flap. The lifting table of the present invention is motor driven and controlled to limit the shock loading experienced by the containers as they are positioned within the cases. The lifting table includes a pair spur gears driven by the motor in meshing arrangement with a pair rack gears each mounted to a table and a novel gear guide to maintain proper engagement between the racks and gears and further to provide for backlash adjustment between the gears.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of forming serpentine heat exchanger coils from spine fin tubing involves applying spine fins to a tube while simultaneously forming the tube into a serpentine shape. The bending and fin wrapping occurs while a feed roll continues paying out the tube without interruption. Multiple bends can be made simultaneously.

Abstract: A toilet includes a toilet bowl assembly having a toilet bowl and a trapway extending from the bottom of the toilet bowl to a sewage line. The toilet bowl has a rim channel provided along an upper perimeter portion thereof. In this toilet, the flush water flows through the rim channel in a path which is asymmetric and unidirectional along the entire perimeter portion thereof. The rim channel includes a plurality of rim openings distributed evenly along the perimeter of the rim channel. Flush water passing through the plurality of rim openings pre-wets the entire perimeter of the toilet bowl. The rim channel further includes a pair of water discharge slots which directs water directly into the toilet bowl in two powerful streams. The flush valve allowing passage of water from the water tank to the toilet bowl assembly is in the form of a valve inlet having a radiused port to generate greater energy throughput of the flush water.

Abstract: Disclosed is an atomic force microscope. A Fabry-Perot interferometer where the intensity of light reflected at a cantilever through an optical fiber varies sensitively to a displacement of the cantilever is constructed to accurately measure a distance between the optical fiber and the cantilever. A Fabry-Perot resonator is formed by the optical fiber having an end of a concave mirror shape and a reflective surface of the cantilever. A displacement of a cantilever tip is measured by detecting a signal reflected at the resonator and a feedback signal corresponding to a variation in the displacement of the cantilever tip is generated. The displacement of the cantilever tip is kept constant by actuating a piezoelectric element in a Z-axis direction.

Abstract: A sampling kit form for storage and shipping of organic material. The form includes first and second coextensively joined plies, with adhesive and release coating placed at select locations therebetween such that the form surfaces are substantially free of lateral or longitudinal undulations, which allows the forms to be stacked without leaning or sagging. The first ply also includes a die cut that circumscribes a removable inset portion. Upon removal of the inset portion, adhesive disposed on an inner surface of the second ply is exposed, thus permitting the organic material, such as hair samples, to be placed on the exposed adhesive coating. Fold lines in the sheet establish preferential folding locations so that the organic material samples can be encased between layers of adhesive and release coating within the form once it is folded. The form also includes a postcard that can be detached along a perforated line of weakness.

Abstract: An air conditioner includes an outdoor section comprising an outdoor coil, a fan, and a refrigerant compressor housed within a cabinet. The cabinet includes an outer wrapper supported by a plastic base. The base and wrapper include features that facilitate the cabinet's assembly and shipping, enhance its appearance, and ensure its functional and structural integrity. For example, the base includes breakaway shipping tabs, lead-ins that help guide the wrapper and coil into position during assembly, and snaps that help hold the wrapper in place with a minimal number of screws. The wrapper includes watertight screw-receiving dimples for mounting electrical hardware, side panels that interconnect by way of a novel vertically sliding fit, and a spacer for protecting the coil from being crushed by the wrapper. A frame that supports the fan also supports the cabinet's top cover.

The purging device comprises: a purge tank; apparatus receiving the condensable and non-condensable gases from the system and directing said gases into the purge tank; apparatus condensing the non-condensable gases into a condensed form; apparatus accumulating the non-condensable gases in a header space; apparatus returning the condensed gases from the purge tank to the system; apparatus controllably removing the accumulated non-condensable gases from the header space; and apparatus generating controlled flow in the condensable and non-condensable gases.

Abstract: A block bottom bulk material bag, or satchel bottom bag, is formed from multiple plies of paper and an inner ply of plastic that is adhered to the innermost ply of paper. The bag is formed from roll-stock material that is cut into blanks. The knives that cut the blanks are registered relative to one another so that when the pinch bottom or satchel bottom is formed there is no paper surface exposed to the interior of the bag and the entire interior surface of the bag to which bulk material contained in the bag is exposed is covered with plastic.

Abstract: A filter circuit. In one embodiment, the filter circuit includes a continuous time (CT) filter, a switched capacitor (SWC) filter, and an SWC integrator. The CT filter is coupled to receive an input signal from an external source. The CT filter may be a low-pass filter. The SWC filter is coupled to receive an output signal from the CT filter, and provide an output information signal. The SWC filter may also be a low pass filter. A feedback loop may be present between the output of the SWC filter and the input of the CT filter. The SWC integrator samples the output signal from the SWC filter and provides an output signal to the CT filter. The output signal is combined with the input signal to the CT filter. A D.C. offset may be substantially removed from the information signal provided by the output of the SWC filter.
