Abstract: A security device comprises a cable whose ends are engageable within a plunger. The cable is threaded around a door handle or other item to be secured and then, with the cable ends engaged therein, the plunger is slid within a housing for retention by a locking slide. Retraction of the plunger into the housing moves a slide upwardly. This movement causes a pivotally mounted striker to be flipped from one end position to another by an over-center spring arrangement. In moving, the striker strikes a number of wheels each carrying a sequence of numbers. The wheels are rotated and a random number is displayed. If, subsequently, the plunger is released to release the cable, the wheels are struck again by the striker whereby the displayed number is changed. The number is changed again if the plunger is repositioned. The chance of the same number being randomly generated is insignificant. Thus, any opening and closing of the security device is immediately apparent because of the change in the number displayed.
Abstract: A document dispenser comprises a document guide defining a guide portion of an advancing document path and a document identification code reading aperture formed in the document guide wherein a single detector in communication with the dispenser controller is positioned proximate the document identification code reading aperture and is operative to read a specific document identification code through the document identification code reading aperture. Correlated data, indicative of a specific document identification code and corresponding document data input during dispensing of a document carrying the specific document identification code, is generated subsequent the reading of the identification code. A plurality of alternative document identification code reading apertures are formed in the document guide.

Abstract: A construction for a laminated window label is provided and includes a transparent film having an adhesive on one surface thereof, liner stock having first and second release-coated surfaces which is adhered on one surface to the transparent film, and an opaque layer which is adhered to the other surface of the liner stock. The transparent film and opaque layer preferably include die cut label portions. Variable and nonvariable information may be printed on the die cut label portion of the transparent film, and the opaque layer may be removed from the construction and replaced onto the surface of the film, thereby laminating the label portion of the opaque layer to the label portion of the transparent film. The two label portions may then be peeled away from the remainder of the construction as a single label which is then applied to a transparent surface such as a window.
Abstract: A process for manufacturing an unsaturated mononitrile selected from the group consisting of acrylonitrile and methacrylonitrile comprising reacting an olefin selected from the group consisting of propylene and isobutylene, ammonia and oxygen in a reactor zone in the presence of a catalyst to produce a reactor effluent containing the corresponding unsaturated mononitrile, transferring the reactor effluent containing the unsaturated mononitrile to a quench column wherein the reactor effluent containing the unsaturated mononitrile is contacted with at least a first aqueous stream to cool the reactor effluent, transferring the cooled reactor effluent containing the unsaturated mononitrile to an absorption column wherein the reactor effluent containing unsaturated mononitrile is contacted with at least a second aqueous stream to separate and remove the unsaturated mononitrile as a bottom stream from the absorption column, transferring the bottom stream containing the unsaturated mononitrile to a recovery and puri

Abstract: A fan assembly. The fan assembly comprises: a fan having an axis and an outer periphery; a housing about the fan; and a cutoff separating fan inflow from fan outflow. The cutoff is preferably arranged parallel to the axis and is proximal to the outer periphery. The cutoff includes first and second layers. The first layer provides structural support and has a plurality of apertures therethrough. The second layer is formed of an acoustically insulating material.

Abstract: A semi-monolithic ring cavity for a second harmonic generation of laser frequency including a nonlinear crystal, an input mirror, an output mirror, a first point, at which a fundamental wave is incident onto the input mirror, a second point, at which the fundamental wave is incident onto the output mirror along with a second harmonic wave, and a third point, at which the fundamental wave reflects totally from a side surface of the nonlinear crystal. One of the input and output mirrors is coated with a dielectric and separated from the nonlinear crystal whereas the other mirror is formed on the nonlinear crystal. The fundamental wave forms a ring cavity in such a manner that the second harmonic wave is generated only along an axis extending through the first and second points. The semi-monolithic ring cavity exhibits a stable frequency characteristic and a high transform efficiency when a second-harmonic generation of continuous-wave laser frequency is carried out.

Abstract: A packer is provided with a continuous flow of side-by-side columns of plastic bottles that move down an inclined ramp and into a load station where groups or slugs of bottles are deposited into trays or cases. An overhead flight bar conveyor provides a gap between each such group and the cases move by line pressure through the load station. Neck ring guides are provided above the flight bar path to control the descent of the bottles into each case. The path of the flight bars assures that each slug or group is closely controlled, initially by the steep entry angle and as a result of the shallow V-shaped path defined by the angularly related linear active runs on the flight bars prior to entry into the load station and by a second active run forming an abrupt V at the entry to the load station and inclined toward the neck ring guides at the same angle defined by the first run.
Abstract: A tap includes a sensor (20) for determining the distance between a user's hands (3) and the tap, a mixing valve (40) regulating the temperature of water fed to delivery port (11) of the tap and a controller (30) for processing the distance values provided by the sensor. The temperature of water delivered differs based on the position of the user's hands relative to the tap.
