  • Patent number: 5638691
Abstract: Compression refrigeration apparatus for removing heat from a heat load using a falling film evaporator, operated with an azeotropic refrigerant and utilizing a spray tree distribution system that distributes a refrigerant film on a heat exchange surface by spraying liquid refrigerant onto a surface and allowing the refrigerant to drip onto the primary heat exchange surface. The apparatus allows for efficient recovery of lubricant deposited in the evaporator without redistributing the lubricant within the evaporator. In an alternative embodiment, liquid refrigerant is sprayed onto a mesh screen where it drips onto the primary heat exchange surface.

  • Patent number: 5630984
Abstract: A brass alloy having a composition (wt %) as follows: Cu: 57-65%; Bi: 0.3-1.5%; Al: 0.4-0.8%; B: 5-15 ppm; impurities 0-1%, and Zn as remainder. A brass alloy whose Cu content is set to 57-65 wt % and whose further alloying constituents do not exceed 3 wt % can be cast into a chill mold without any problems and, additionally, solidifies from the melt relatively finely grained and thus virtually free of shrinkholes. Further, grain refining with boron is possible in spite of a Cu content that is increased compared to the known alloys, if the elements Mn, Si and Sb are added by alloying in amounts according to the invention and if, simultaneously, the Fe content can be limited to a maximum of 0.25 wt %. Furthermore, the alloy is provided with enhanced hot shortness if the Sn content is as low as possible but, at least, does not exceed 0.25 wt %. The occurrence of hard inclusions is strongly repressed.

  • Patent number: 5630628
Abstract: A connecting coupling has a hose nozzle and a coupling piece, for joining hose lines, and in particular for pressure-tight connection of the hose line of a dishwashing sprayer to a single-lever pillar mixer by means of plug-in connection. To further reduce manufacture costs and at the same time achieve a rapid and easily detachable connecting union, in the connecting coupling a retaining element is a disk-shaped body, split on one side, with a reinforced outer rim and with segment-like holding and blocking tongues that define a rectangular opening cross-section when the retaining element is closed. A coupling piece has a middle tube section with an end section, which can be inserted into the mixer, and the hose nozzle carries an O-ring on its end, secured by a bushing, and the bushing is locked by a retaining ring, to which is connected a plastic part with a retaining groove.

  • Patent number: 5622727
Abstract: Pressure-casting bench for vitreous china sanitary fixtures having two guides on which mold parts travel in a horizontal direction, capable of pairing so as to bound a molding cavity, a set of guides or rails being provided for introducing into and removing from the cavities so bounded, additional mold parts known as mandrels. An upper support structure is provided capable of supporting a horizontal beam and causing it to travel in a plane at right angles to the plane defined by the guides under which all the mandrels are fixed in order to enter the molding cavities. A series of plates, spindles and springs are provided for the mandrels as well as a series of pegs for clamping the mandrels to the mold parts thereunder and encasing the molding cavities and subsequently releasing the mandrels from the mold parts.

  • Patent number: 5617850
Abstract: A blood gas monitoring system monitors blood gas from blood in a blood vessel. A blood probe is introduced into the blood vessel. The blood probe includes a probe body defining a probe chamber and a first gas permeable membrane coupled to a first end of the probe body. A sensor is provided proximate a second end of the probe chamber to sense a desired characteristic of the blood gas. Blood gas is allowed to diffuse across the first gas permeable membrane and into the probe chamber so that the blood gas in the probe chamber is substantially in equilibrium with the blood gas in the blood vessel. Once blood gas in the probe chamber has substantially equilibrated with the blood gas in the blood vessel, the desired characteristic of the blood gas is sensed.

  • Patent number: 5617095
Abstract: A hybrid-type wide band electromagnetic wave absorber having cone-shaped projections of a reduced may be produced by matching the impedance of the cone-shaped absorber members and the underlying plate type absorber. Such a hybrid-type wide band electromagnetic wave absorber is formed by arranging tapered cone-shaped members in a regular pattern on a sintered ferrite plate, which is disposed on a metal plate. The cone-shaped members are formed of a material selected from a ferrite and a ferrite composite and each have a normalized cross-sectional area at the base of 0<S.sub.0 <1 and an exponent of cone shape of 0<n<10. Such a hybrid type electromagnetic wave absorber may be used, for example, for performing EMI/EMS testing in an anechoic chamber in the frequency range of 30 MHz to 1 GHz. In the case of applications such as antenna testing in the frequency range of 30 MHz to 30 GHz, the height of the cone-shaped members must be appropriately increased.

  • Patent number: 5615731
Abstract: In the case of a continuous casting mould for a double T-shaped preliminary section comprising a mould cavity cross-section which is composed of two flange parts (4, 4') and a web part (5) firstly sticking of the billet in the mould is to be prevented and secondly simplified mould production is to be indicated. Furthermore it should be possible to produce sections of this type in tubular moulds, with high casting speed and high billet quality such that their dimensions are as close as possible to the final dimensions. To this end it is proposed that the mould cavity (3) be provided at the mould end on the pouring-in side, on both sides along the web (5) in each case with a cross-sectional enlargement, in the form of bulges (8), with respect to the identical mould cavity portion (7) at the mould end on the billet outlet side.
