Patent number: 12291854Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for automatically actuating preexisting water shut-off valves upon detection of leak conditions. A coupling of a valve actuator is connected to a handle of the valve, such that a motor of the valve actuator causes the selective opening and closing of the valve. A controller obtains water flow data from a non-intrusive flow sensor (e.g., an ultrasonic sensor) clamped onto a pipe attached to the valve in close proximity thereto, as well as obtaining additional sensor data from remote sensors disposed elsewhere in the water supply system (e.g., pressure levels measured by an in-line pressure sensor). When the controller determines a leak condition exists based upon the water flow data and the additional sensor data, it controls the actuator to close the valve. The controller may also test for leaks by periodically shutting the valve and measuring the pressure while the valve is shut.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2023Date of Patent: May 6, 2025Assignee: STATE FARM MUTUAL AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE COMPANYInventor: John R. Patent number: 12289289Abstract: This disclosure describes example techniques for automatically configuring domain name system (DNS) servers to handle custom hostnames assigned to hosted zones. The techniques monitor DNS record sets of the hosted zones for special DNS records registering new hostnames. When such a special DNS record is detected, the central DNS server checks a database to see if that hostname is already assigned to another hosted zone. If the hostname is not assigned to another hosted zone, the central DNS server automatically updates its own DNS configuration data pair the new hostname with the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the hosted zone requesting the hostname. This allows the central DNS server to resolve future DNS queries for the new hostname by routing requests to the proper zone.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2023Date of Patent: April 29, 2025Assignee: State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance CompanyInventors: Tyler Deknecht, Todd D. Patent number: 12282417Abstract: Test cases written to test a software application can be dynamically distributed among different sets of test cases that can be executed simultaneously in different parallel threads, thereby speeding up testing relative to executing the test cases sequentially in a single thread. Although executing the test cases in parallel threads can cause the test cases to execute in a different order than intended by developers, any test cases that fail due to database conflicts or other errors as a result of the parallelization can be retried at least once. Re-executing failed test cases at a later time can lead to the full set of test cases ultimately succeeding, despite errors that may have been caused by the parallelization.Type: GrantFiled: June 16, 2023Date of Patent: April 22, 2025Assignee: State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance CompanyInventors: Shaktiraj Chauhan, Nate Shepherd
