  • Patent number: 9421194
Abstract: The American Cancer Society estimated that in 2009, 1,479,350 new cancer cases would be diagnosed in the United States of which 219,440 would be lung and bronchus related. The standard treatments for NSCLC include surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, laser and photodynamic therapy, all with various success rates depending on the stage of the cancer. National Cancer Institute assesses, however, that results of standard treatment are generally poor with only a 15 percent 5-year survival rate for combined cancer stages. Challenges facing the current chemotherapy drugs include excessive toxicity to healthy tissues and limited ability to prevent metastases. A dual drug delivery system described herein selectively targets the lung to deliver anti-cancer drugs and inhibit the formation of metastases.

  • Patent number: 9424565
Abstract: At least one content publishing server having a memory storing a map data structure configured by a content author which defines relationships among plural resources and thereby define an informational item of higher granularity content. Each of the plural resources are associated with a first electronic file linked to said map data structure and configured to store information about the usage of the associated resource. Higher granularity content is associated with a second electronic file linked to said map data structure configured to store information about the usage of the higher granularity content. The server which delivers the informational item to a computer gathers feedback usage information reflecting how the higher granularity content and individual ones of the plural resources are used by users. The server updates the electronic files in accordance with the feedback usage information.

  • Patent number: 9424514
Abstract: The developmental neural network is trained using a synaptic maintenance process. Synaptogenic trimming is first performed on the neuron inputs using a synaptogenic factor for each neuron based on standard deviation of a measured match between the input and synaptic weight value. A top-k competition among all neurons then selects a subset of said neurons as winning neurons. Neuronal learning is applied only to these winning neurons, updating their synaptic weights and updating their synaptogenic factors.

  • Publication number: 20160241257
Abstract: For decoding messages, a decoder exchanges single-bit messages for a data channel between a plurality of M parity nodes and a plurality of N symbol nodes. Each parity node has one or more adjacent symbol nodes with a plurality of edges between the parity node and each adjacent symbol node. An extrinsic decision and an extrinsic parity value are calculated based on a time-varying lookup table. The lookup table stores the locally maximum-likelihood extrinsic decision for a quantized number of data channel states as a function of adjacent extrinsic parity values.

  • Publication number: 20160241399
Abstract: A new construction of CP-ABE, named Privacy Preserving Constant CP-ABE (PPC-CP-ABE) that significantly reduces the ciphertext to a constant size with any given number of attributes is disclosed. PPCCP-ABE leverages a hidden policy construction such that the recipients' privacy is preserved efficiently. A Privacy Preserving Attribute Based Broadcast Encryption (PP-AB-BE) scheme is disclosed. PP-AB-BE is flexible because a broadcasted message can be encrypted by an expressive hidden access policy, either with or without explicit specifying the receivers. PP-AB-BE significantly reduces the storage and communication overhead. Also, PP-AB-BE attains minimal bound on storage overhead for each user to cover all possible subgroups in the communication system.
