Abstract: The subject invention pertains to the synthesis and characterization of V2O5/CdE NW/QD heterostructures. The V2O5/CdE heterostructures are versatile new materials constructs for light harvesting, charge separation, and the photocatalytic production of solar fuels; polymorphism of V2O5 and compositional alloying of both components provides for a substantial design space for tuning of interfacial energy offsets. Also provided are a new class of type-II heterostructures composed of cadmium chalcogenide QDs (CdE where E=S, Se, or Te) and ?-V2O5 nanowires (NWs). The synthesis and characterization of V2O5/CdE NW/QD heterostructures, prepared via successive ionic layer adsorption and reaction (SILAR) and linker-assisted assembly (LAA), the characterization of their photoinduced charge-transfer reactivity using transient absorption spectroscopy, and their performance in the photocatalytic reduction of protons to hydrogen are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 12046716
Abstract: Disclosed is a calcium salt, Ca(HMDS)2, where HMDS is the hexamethyldisilazide anion (also known as bis(trimethylsilyl)amide), enables high current densities and high coulombic efficiency for calcium metal deposition and dissolution. These properties facilitate the use of this salt in batteries based on calcium metal. In addition, the salt is significant for batteries based on metal anodes, which have higher specific energies than batteries based on intercalation anodes, such as LiC6. In particular, a calcium based rechargeable battery includes Ca(HMDS)2 salt and at least one solvent, the solvent suitable for calcium battery cycling. The at least one solvent can be diethyl ether, diisopropylether, methyl t-butyl ether (MTBE), 1,3-dioxane, 1,4-dioxane, tetrahydrofuran (THF), tetrahydropyran, glyme, diglyme, triglyme or tetraglyme, or any mixture thereof.

One example embodiment is a system for enforcing execution of a protocol among a plurality of parties. The example system includes a controller provider configured to manage a plurality of automated controllers. The system also includes a ledger and an inspector. The plurality of automated controllers correspond to the plurality of parties. Each automated controller is configured to enforce execution of the protocol using a computer program integrated with the automated controller. The controller provider intercepts messages sent or received by the automated controllers and stores them in the ledger. The ledger, thus, represents the history of events or operations between the parties, and the treatment of those events or operations by the controllers.
