  • Patent number: 4438079
Abstract: Arsenic anhydride of high purity is inexpensively manufactured from an arsenic sulfide-containing substance by first contacting the arsenic sulfide-containing substance with a copper sulfate-containing aqueous solution so as to provide an extract solution containing arsenious acid, the extract solution is subjected to aeration in the presence of copper ions such that the arsenious acid therein is mostly oxidized to arsenic acid, the thus provided treated solution is subjected to a weak reducing agent to cause crystals of arsenious anhydride to form, and these crystals are then recovered.

  • Patent number: 4357261
Abstract: From a refinery's intermediate byproduct composed of a sulfide, oxide or arsenide containing copper and arsenic, a liquid extract containing copper and arsenic at a concentration ratio of not less than 1.0 is obtained. The liquid extract is cooled to a predetermined temperature to achieve solid-liquid phase separation, and the liquid resulting from the phase separation is neutralized to pH 6-7 to isolate copper and arsenic in the form of a composite precipitate. The composite copper-arsenic compound mixture thus obtained has a high purity and low production cost and can be converted through a simple treatment into an effective antiseptic for wood.

  • Patent number: 4319348
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for surveying for nodular targets of a grain size of 1 to 15 cm present on the sea floor, pulse waves in each of three frequency ranges of 3 to 4, 10 to 14 and 25 to 50 KHz are radiated onto the sea floor from a ship navigating on the sea. The reflected sound waves of the three frequency pulse waves are received and the reflexibilities of the respective sound waves are measured from the reflected sound pressures and the reflexibilities are composed. The population of the nodular targets is determined from the composed reflexibility and, as required, the grain size of the nodular targets can be determined from at least one of the ratio of the reflexibility of the sound waves of the frequency range of 3 to 4 KHz to the composed reflexibility and the ratio of the reflexibility of the sound waves of the frequency range of 3 to 4 KHz to the reflexibility of the sound waves of range of 25 to 50 KHz.
