Abstract: A base station comprises a transmitter configured to transmit a downlink frame. The downlink frame comprising a first configuration message associated with the configuration of Enhanced-Multicast Broadcast Service (E-MBS). The first configuration message comprises a field with an indicator to indicate a next configuration message to be decoded by a subscriber station. The subscriber station, upon decoding the first configuration message, refrains from decoding subsequent configuration messages that precede the next configuration message to be decoded by the subscriber station in accordance with the indicator.

Abstract: An illumination apparatus and method for a display device designed such that light is incident on a hologram or hologram pattern at an angle for which diffraction efficiency is the highest. The illumination apparatus includes at least one point light source which emits light and a light guide plate (LGP) which has the at least one point light source disposed on a side thereof and a hologram pattern on a top surface which permits the light incident from the point light source to exit from the top surface. The side of the LGP facing the point light source is inclined such that the light is incident obliquely on the hologram pattern at an altitude angle which provides high diffraction efficiency.

Abstract: In a vertical-type memory device and a method of manufacturing the vertical-type memory device, the vertical memory device includes an insulation layer pattern of a linear shape provided on a substrate, pillar-shaped single-crystalline semiconductor patterns provided on both sidewalls of the insulation layer pattern and transistors provided on a sidewall of each of the single-crystalline semiconductor patterns. The transistors are arranged in a vertical direction of the single-crystalline semiconductor pattern, and thus the memory device may be highly integrated.

Abstract: A method of compressing a 2×2 block based binary image is provided. The method includes: determining whether pixels included in a block are included in existing patterns; generating the number N of the pixels included in the existing patterns (N is a natural number); when N is more than a predetermined value, compressing the block with a binary bit stream comprising information about patterns of the pixels included in the existing patterns and color information about the pixels having a new pattern. The method of compressing a 2×2 block based binary image reduces information damage which may occur during compression and restoration of the binary pattern so that the difference in picture quality between an original image and the restored image can be visibly improved.

Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit device may include a first internal circuit operating at a first voltage higher than a power supply voltage of the device, and a second internal circuit operating at a second voltage lower than the first voltage. An interface circuit may be provided to restrict a voltage transferred from the first internal circuit to the second internal circuit. The first internal circuit may include a metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) transistor having a relatively thick gate insulation layer, and the second internal circuit may have a MOS transistor having a relatively thin gate insulation layer. The interface circuit, by restricting voltage, may reduce an electric field applied to the gate insulation layer of the second MOS transistor in an effort to prevent a reduction in turn-on speed of the second MOS transistor.

Abstract: Provided are a method of generating a firmware update file which restrictively allows a firmware update for a corresponding hardware model, and a method and apparatus for updating firmware using the firmware update file. By generating a data body including program codes of firmware to be updated, generating a data header including model codes of a hardware device to which the data body is applied, and generating the firmware update file by combining the data body and the data header, the firmware update may be restricted for a corresponding model of a hardware device by using the firmware update file so that firmware of other models of hardware devices may not be updated, an integrity check may be performed using a digital signature when the firmware is updated.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for interference cancellation in multiple-antenna communication system is disclosed. Accordingly, a receiver of a multiple-antenna communication system cancels interference by selecting either a multiple-symbol processing scheme or a single-symbol processing scheme depending on a signal type, thereby improving performance of the communication system.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for allocating resources in an Single Carrier-Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA) communication system are provided, in which a Node B performs inter-subband hopping on a resource unit for a User Equipment (UE) on a frequency axis along which at least two subbands are defined, at each predetermined hopping time, determines whether to turn on or off mirroring in a subband having the hopped resource unit on a cell basis at the each hopping time, selects a resource unit by selectively mirroring the hopped unit according to the determination, and allocates the selected resource unit to the UE.

Abstract: A method of providing state information of a mobile station in a mobile communication system which provides a data service between the mobile station and a base station and transmits information on a maximum data rate available for the mobile station and information on the amount of data stored in a buffer of the mobile station in a reverse direction, such that the base station determines a reverse data rate of the mobile station based on channel state information transmitted in the reverse direction. The mobile station determines information on the amount of data stored in its buffer based on information transmitted from the base station. The mobile station quantizes the determined information on the amount of data stored in the buffer, and transmits the quantized information to the base station.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method, apparatus and system for providing a financial service through a mobile station in a mobile communication network. The system includes the mobile station for reading a barcode, transmitting user authentication data and the barcode, receiving passbook data, and storing and managing the passbook data; the mobile communication network for receiving the user authentication data and the barcode to thereby provide barcode information to a bank server, determining whether to approve the service; the bank server for managing the passbook data, allocating a specific barcode to each automatic machine, providing the location information of the automatic machine, corresponding to the barcode, and providing the mobile station with a banking service; and the automatic machine for receiving the barcode and outputting the received barcode, and providing the banking service through the bank server when the service is approved.

Abstract: A customizable, intuitive content management front end is provided for a mobile communication device having limited computing resources. The content comprises multiple content items in several different content types. The apparatus comprises an environment management unit operative to support an environment, typically a three-dimensional environment, as a display on said screen resource. The environment is part of a front end application for the device. An object support unit supports placement of objects into the three-dimensional environment, and an association unit content types with the various objects, such that items of a given content type are accessible via a respective object. Individual content items of the given type are then selected either randomly, semi-randomly or manually for the object.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for detecting a signal in a communication system using a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) scheme. The signal detection apparatus includes a detector for generating second matrixes by extending a first matrix composed of channel response vectors, generating specific matrixes by decomposing the second matrixes, generating a lattice point of vectors constituting the second matrixes, estimating a signal using the generated specific matrixes and lattice point, and detecting the estimated signal as a received signal if the estimated signal has a value within a predetermined allowable range.

A method for manufacturing a balancer includes processing stainless steel to have a balancer shape, and demagnetizing the stainless steel having the balancer shape through a thermal treatment. A method for manufacturing an overmold of a head stack assembly includes processing stainless steel to have a balancer shape and demagnetizing the stainless steel having the balancer shape through a thermal treatment, placing the balancer inside a mold, and filling the inside of the mold with liquid resin and solidifying the liquid resin to form the overmold.

Abstract: In a base station of an IEEE 802.16 Wireless MAN-based portable Internet system, a forward packet scheduling method and apparatus is provided. The portable Internet system portable Internet service includes a user terminal AT for providing a portable Internet service, a base station AP for supporting an inter-user terminal wireless access and network connection, and a packet access router PAR for performing a mobility control and packet routing function of each user terminal AT. The forward packet scheduler includes a packet-based subsidiary scheduling part for considering a real-time service and a user-based scheduling part for ensuring fairness and increasing system efficiency (throughput). After finishing the 2-step scheduling, the generated frame data are transmitted though a physical layer to a wireless user terminal.

Abstract: Disclosed is a contactless battery charger for simultaneously charging numerous portable terminals and battery packs, regardless of their type, when they are placed on the charger, as well as sterilizing and cleaning them. The charger includes a plate-shaped portion gradually depressed towards the center up to a predetermined depth so that a number of terminals and battery packs can be placed on the plate-shaped portion. The charger is adapted to simultaneously charge a number of battery packs in a contactless mode.

Abstract: A key management, user registration and deregistration for a digital rights management (DRM) system in a home network, using a hierarchical node topology. In the key management, node information is generated by allocating a pair of keys (a public key and a private key) to each node. A node tree is made by generating link information using the pair of keys and a content key. The link information is delivered from an upper node to a lower node using the node tree. The link information is obtained by encrypting a private key of a ‘TO’ node using a public key of a ‘FROM’ node. Accordingly, it is possible to realize a DRM system that protects content and easily accomplishes a binding mechanism and a revocation mechanism.

Abstract: In a manufacture of a semiconductor device, spacers are formed on sidewalls of structures including conductive patterns and insulation patterns. The insulation patterns are at least four times thinner than the conductive patterns. After gaps between the structures are filled with a first insulation film, etch stop film patterns having a width which is wider than that of the structures are formed on the structures. A second insulation film is formed to cover the resultant structures without voids between the structures.
