  • Publication number: 20070019802
Abstract: Systems and methods of synchronizing an input signal and an output signal via employing a sampling component that samples a speaker output and a microphone input during a full duplex communication, at a same clock frequency and same exact time to supply time synchronized sample signal(s). A software acoustic echo canceller (AEC) can then provide for production of a reconditioned microphone signal, wherein the speaker signal is absent therefrom. The time synchronized samples can be processed by the software AEC, in general without real time constraints that can be imposed by the operating system (OS).

  • Publication number: 20070001812
Abstract: System and methods for optimizing communications between an RFID reader and a population of tags are described. To increase a read rate, the reader and tags use a partial binary tree traversal. In partial binary tree traversal, a first portion of a tag identification sequence is read. A set marker command is then transmitted to a group of tags causing the tags to set a bit position for start of subsequent binary tree traversal. The subsequent binary tree traversal for the tag group starts at the marked position. Thus, the reader and group of tags negotiate a subset of the identification sequence instead of the entire identification sequence.

  • Publication number: 20070001848
Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing interference by warbling a reader transmitted signal are described. To reduce interference in a densely packed multiple reader environment, a reader modulates or warbles the frequency or phase of the transmitted signal during a reception portion of a symbol exchange period. The transmitted signal is modulated within the bandwidth of an operating channel. The bandwidth of the operating channel is much narrower than the system bandwidth. In frequency warbling, the carrier frequency is shifted one or more times during the reception portion of the symbol exchange period. If phase warbling, the transmitted signal is spread within bandwidth of the operating channel during the reception portion of the symbol exchange period.

  • Publication number: 20060289645
Abstract: Methods, systems, and apparatuses for obtaining data from radio frequency identification (RFID) tags are described. A read of data stored in a RFID tag is initiated. It is determined that the read failed. A machine readable symbol of the RFID tag is scanned to identify the RFID tag. The read and scan can be performed by a multi-mode reader device or by separate devices. In an aspect, a portion of the scanning operation can be performed before it is determined that the read failed. In a further aspect, a reversible obscuration partially or entirely prevents decoding of the machine readable symbol. The obscuration is reversed to expose the machine readable symbol prior to scanning the machine readable symbol. An indication can be provided on the RFID tag to indicate to an operator that the machine readable symbol is present.

  • Patent number: 7155262
Abstract: A system and method is provided that provides a mobile communication device with the ability to quickly reestablish a communication session with another after the communication device is awaken from a sleep or idle mode. The mobile communication device is provided with a first power system for powering a central operating system and a second power system for powering a communication system. A mobile communication device establishes a communication session with another communication device by establishing a connection and establishing a communication session. During an idle period, the communication session in a stack will be stored in memory. The first power system and the central operating system will then enter a low power or sleep mode, while second power system and the communication system can maintain a communication connection with the other device. Upon reestablishing communications, the mobile communication device will wake up the first power supply and the central operating system.

  • Patent number: 7155239
Abstract: A method for estimating a location of a wireless device in a wireless local network is provided. The method includes forming a first set comprised of the signal strength received from access points that the wireless device received a signal from and an indicator of no signal strength measured for access points that the wireless device did not receive a signal from. Next, a scan subset can be formed comprised of access points in the first set that has associated signal strength. Next, a cluster comprised of the calibration points can be formed based on the scan subset. A distance between the first set and each of the calibration point in the cluster can be calculated. Then, the smallest distance can be selected as the location estimate.

  • Patent number: 7147161
Abstract: Processing an analog electrical signal containing information representative of reflected light from indicia including regions of different light reflectivity, wherein the analog electrical signal contains edge transitions corresponding to boundaries between adjoining regions of different light reflectivity of the indicia. The edge transitions of at least a part of the analog electrical signal are analyzed to determine a level of blur in that part of the electrical signal. Based on the determined level of blur, one of a plurality of different techniques is selected for processing that part of the electrical signal to produce a digitized electrical signal in which transitions in the digital level of the signal correspond to boundaries between adjoining regions of different light reflectivity of the indicia.

  • Patent number: 7145482
Abstract: A method, system, and apparatus for remotely calibrating data symbols received by a radio frequency identification (RFID) tag population are described. Tags are interrogated by a reader, which may be located in a network of readers. The reader transmits data symbols to the tags. Tags respond to the interrogations with symbols that each represent one or more bits of data. To calibrate the tags, the reader transmits a plurality of pulses of different lengths to the tag population. The tags receive the plurality of pulses. A characteristic of each pulse, such as a pulse length, is stored by the tags. The stored pulse lengths are used to define different data symbols that are subsequently received by the tags from the reader.
