  • Patent number: 7352712
Abstract: Described is a system comprising a computing device, a wireless computing unit and a network management arrangement (“NMA”). The NMA receives a first signal and a second signal from the computing device. The NMA forwards the second signal to the unit and receives a third signal from the unit which is an acknowledgment of receipt of the second signal. The NMA determines a first time value indicative of a difference between a time of receipt of the first signal and a time of receipt of the second signal. The NMA compares the first time value to a first threshold range to generate a first output data. The NMA determines a second time value indicative of a difference between a time of transmission of the second signal and a time of receipt of the third signal. The NMA compares the second time value to a second threshold range to generate second output data. The NMA executes a response procedure as a function of at least one of the first and second output data.

  • Patent number: 7352499
Abstract: A laser beam is swept by a scan mirror as a pattern of scan lines on a projection surface. The scan mirror moves at a variable speed along each scan line. Each scan line has a number of pixels. The pixels have time durations proportional to the variable speed of the scan mirror. A profile memory stores the time durations of the pixels. A controller causes selected pixels arranged along each scan line to be illuminated for the time durations stored by the profile memory to produce an image of uniform brightness and of uniformly sized pixels and in color.

  • Patent number: 7353051
Abstract: A hand held mobile terminal includes at least one torque cell for facilitating a torsionally stiff housing structure. The torque cell includes a plurality of first locking members located around a perimeter of a first housing and a plurality of second locking members located around a perimeter of a second housing. The first and second locking members are slidably engageable with each other so as to create a plurality of interlocking joints around the perimeter of the torque cell. Accordingly, the torque cell structure provides several advantages over the conventional mobile terminal housing, such as: better torsional rigidity, simplified assembly, improved volumetric efficiency, reduced need for shock absorbing materials, lighter overall weight, decoupling of impact loads, and mitigation of stress concentrations.

The shielding apparatus includes an illumination shield extending from a housing of the scanner and extending along at least a portion of a path of travel of an aiming pattern generated by an aiming apparatus of the scanner. The shield passes illumination within a predetermined wavelength range and impedes passage of illumination outside of the predetermined wavelength range. The predetermined wavelength range of the shield includes a wavelength range of the aiming pattern generated by the aiming apparatus. The shielding apparatus further includes a filter disposed in proximity to an imaging system of the scanner and passing illumination within a predetermined wavelength range to the pixel array and impeding the passage of illumination outside of the predetermined wavelength range.

  • Patent number: 7349774
Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for a traffic warning system (TWS) for light aircraft. The TWS comprises a processor coupled to a transceiver, adapted to measure signal strength and send/receive messages containing station ID and preferably altitude and position data. Memory, display and various flight data instruments, such as GPS, altimeter, etc., are also coupled to the processor. The transceiver-processor automatically identifies TWS equipped aircraft within range using an ad-hoc network and exchanges ID and position information. The processor determines range from signal strength and/or received position information and, given enough data, determines direction, altitude, speed, etc., of the other aircraft, which it presents to the pilot. These values and their rate of change are compared to stored alarm thresholds, and the pilot is warned when another aircraft triggers the threshold. Evasive action is recommended where possible.

  • Patent number: 7349356
Abstract: A wireless data communication system has a first station or mobile unit is linked to a second station configured as an access unit to support packet communication, voice or data, where the voice packets are transmitted in the Continuously Aware Mode (CAM) mode while other packets are buffered by the access point and held until asked for by the first station when in a Power Saving-Poll (PSP) mode. A monitoring apparatus at the access point monitors all transmitted packets and sorts the packets to the mobile unit according to CAM or PSP mode. Voice packets are sent out immediately to the mobile unit. Other packets are stored at the access point. The packet arrival rate may vary during transmission and due to random packet delays introduced by propagation characteristic and processing apparatus. The packet arrival rate and delays are taken into account by the first station in an algorithm to determine and extend the normal safe period in which the station receiver may be powered off.
