Abstract: In a belt retractor the absolute angle of rotation of the belt reel is sensed by an incremental counter. The incremental counter is calibrated by sensing the angle of rotation of a control disc coupled to the belt reel by a reduction gear unit. The count of the incremental counter represents the absolute angle of rotation of the belt reel with high accuracy. Various components of a restraint system are controlled as a function of the thus measured absolute angle of rotation of the belt reel.

Abstract: A force limiter for a seat belt retractor comprising a frame, a belt reel rotatably mounted in the frame and a drum which may be coupled with the belt reel for joint rotation. The force limiter further comprises a plastically deformable metal band that may be wound on the drum with dissipation of energy. The metal band runs through a plurality of deflection elements arranged on the frame to be deformed thereby. At least one of the deflection elements is supported on a supporting structure fixed to the frame and is arranged on the frame so as to be movable transversely to the metal band. The deflection element is provided with a stepped contact surface area for a correspondingly stepped abutment surface area on the supporting structure, whereby, when the supporting structure engages a step of the contact surface area, a retraction movement of the deflection element relative to the metal band is permitted.

Abstract: An electrical outlet has socket openings for insertion of contact pins of an electrical plug therein, a closure element that selectively closes or opens the socket openings, and a latching element that selectively latches or unlatches the closure element. The closure element slides perpendicularly to the insertion axis. The latching element includes a latching pawl that is flexibly deflectable parallel to the insertion axis, between a latched position for engaging the closure element and an unlatched position for releasing the closure element. An unlatching pin of an adapter is inserted to deflect the latching pawl to disengage it from the closure element. This unlocks the receptacle for use. Then the contact pins of the plug may be inserted through holes in the adapter and into the socket openings to press sloping surfaces of the closure element to slide the closure element to the open position.
Abstract: A device for detecting embolus uses ultrasonic signals reflected on a fluid flow in a body. The device features a first ultrasonic unit for receiving a first signal generated in a first position in a vessel and a second ultrasonic unit for additional reception of a second signal generated in a second position in the body. The device also features a detector unit for detecting the embolus. The detector unit is triggered only if the time interval between the characteristic changes in the first and second signal, corresponding to a possible embolus, exceeds a minimum value, or if the characteristic signal change occurs in one of the signals only.
Abstract: The invention relates to a vehicle steering wheel, with a switch movably mounted on the steering wheel. The steering wheel comprises a bearing for the switch, the bearing having a guide piece and a bearing piece that encloses the guide piece. The guide piece has a free end with a cone widening outwards towards the free end and transversely to a direction of movement of the switch. The free end forms an end stop in a non-actuated switch position and rests against the bearing piece.

Abstract: An object-sorting system has a conveyor having a horizontally extending stretch, a plurality of pushers fixed on and spaced along the conveyor and extending upward from the stretch thereof, and an upright chute adapted to hold a stack of objects and having a downwardly open outlet spaced above an upstream end of the conveyor stretch. An elongated support surface extends horizontally above the stretch and has an upstream end below the outlet port. A drive advances the stretch and thereby displaces the pushers downstream past the outlet so that the pushers engage at least a lowermost object of the stack in the chute and move the engaged object(s) downstream along the support surface. The support surface can pivot about an axis at the support-surface downstream end and thereby change a vertical spacing between the support surface upstream end and the outlet port.

Abstract: A method for the production of Gaussian intensity distribution in the beam profile of secondary radiation generated by non-linear optical processes, particularly frequency conversion and more particularly frequency doubling of a primary radiation beam. The non-linearly generated, secondary radiation beam is non-Gaussian in profile due to the walk-off effect and has a near field path near the non-linear optical material and a transition field path interconnecting the near field path with a remote, or far, field path. A Gaussian secondary beam profile of substantially circular cross-section is produced at a finite distance from the optical material by providing an optical system in the transition path which, taken as a whole, has no divergence altering or imaging effect on the secondary radiation beam.
