Abstract: A transmission for use in the power train of a motor vehicle has a rotary first component (such as a shaft), a second component which may but need not be rotatable, a fluid-conveying conduit having a first end portion extending into a first socket provided in the first component and a second end portion extending into a socket of the second component, a split-ring piston packing located in an external groove of the first end portion, and an O-ring received in an external groove of the second end portion. The O-ring prevents the conduit and the second component from rotating relative to each other.

Abstract: A side gas bag restraint system for a vehicle having a roof frame and vehicle columns extending upwardly to the roof frame and having side windows, the roof frame and the vehicle columns being covered by at least one lining, is described. The system comprises a curtain-like gas bag covering at least one side window of the vehicle to at least a major extend in an unfolded state of the gas bag and being attached to the vehicle at fastening points, and comprises an elongated guide device to which the gas bag is displaceable fastened and along which the gas bag moves itself on unfolding of the gas bag. The guide device is arranged behind a lining and extends downwardly along a vehicle column in the unfolded and in the folded state of the gas bag. The guide device has two stationary fastening ends at which the guide device is fixed to the vehicle and is constructed so as to be so flexible that the gas bag draws the guide device out from the lining on unfolding of the gas bag.

Abstract: The invention relates to a device for fixing a gas bag in its folded position, the device comprising a hollow receiving body having an outlet opening and provided for accommodating the gas bag. The receiving body has an opening flap connected with it, which in a closed state of the receiving body closes the outlet opening of the receiving body via a detent connection. The detent connection has a ring connected with and formed on one of the receiving body and the opening flap, and has at least one pair of projecting hooks connected with one of the opening flap and the receiving body. The hooks engage on opposite sections of the ring and are orientated facing away from each other. The invention further relates to a side gas bag protective means which is equipped with such a device.

Abstract: An apparatus for folding an airbag for a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises a base for the airbag to be folded, a cover for the airbag, and a flexible element that is arranged between the base and the cover and has first and second ends. The first end of the flexible element is held between the base and the cover. The apparatus further comprises a traction means that acts upon the second end of the flexible element, and a pressure generating means with which the airbag can be acted upon with compressed gas. The invention further relates to a method of folding an airbag and making use of such an apparatus. Still further, the invention relates to a folded airbag produced by such a method.

Abstract: The invention relates to a vehicle steering wheel for a vehicle having a horn, said steering wheel having a longitudinal axis and comprising a gas bag module, a steering wheel skeleton, a gas bag module, at least one detent connection for connecting the gas bag module with the steering wheel skeleton. The gas bag module is displaceably mounted to the skeleton to allow a displacement of the gas bag module in the direction of the longitudinal axis to actuate the horn. The detent connection has first and second electrical contact surfaces, which come into contact with each other by displacement of the gas bag module to actuate the horn.

Abstract: A process for conveying vehicle bodies through a treatment tank for the surface treatment of the vehicle bodies, where the liquid of the treatment tank offers only a slight immersion resistance to the vehicle bodies during immersion and the flow velocities of the liquid relative to the submerging and emerging vehicle bodies are kept low. Prior to their introduction into the treatment tank the vehicle bodies are transferred from a standard position, in which window openings of each vehicle body are arranged above the floor pan of the vehicle body, into a headfirst position, in which the window openings of each vehicle body are arranged beneath the floor pan of the vehicle body. The vehicle bodies are subsequently introduced into the treatment tank in the headfirst position, conveyed through the treatment tank and brought out of the treatment tank again in the headfirst position.

Abstract: A gas bag for a vehicle occupant restraint system comprises an inflation opening and a fabric piece arranged in the interior of the gas bag opposite the inflation opening and defining a volume for compressed gas introduced into the gas bag through the inflation opening. The fabric piece forms at least one outflow opening for the compressed gas. The outflow opening defines a gas exit area affected by the compressed gas flowing through the outflow opening, and comprising at least one limiting strap arranged in the interior of the gas bag but outside of the gas exit area.

Abstract: The invention relates to a steering wheel comprising a hub, a steering wheel rim, at least one spoke connecting the hub and the steering wheel rim, and at least one decorative element. At least one of the steering wheel rim and the spoke have a skeleton and a sheathing surrounding the skeleton. The skeleton has a recess and the decorative element has a fastening element which projects into the recess.

Abstract: A textile air bag material for a protective cushion in an occupant restraint system is disclosed. The textile air bag material is composed of a fabric layer having two superimposed wall portions interwoven with each other at their peripheries. The wall portions have a first side with a surface area. On this side a continuous foil of an air-tight material is applied over the entire surface area. Further, a protective cushion made of the textile material and a method for producing the textile material are disclosed.

Abstract: An apparatus for transporting web-shaped recording media through an electrographic printer or copier has a support member which supports driving and guiding elements. The support is pivotally mounted in the housing via a support shaft. The recording medium is transported by friction by a drive roller mounted on the support, the recording medium being pressed against the toner carrier by a pressing member. The supporting shaft and the drive roller run in a coaxial manner.

Abstract: The housing of a hydrokinetic torque converter in the power train between the engine and the transmission of a motor vehicle contains a lockup valve which can be engaged to transmit torque directly from the output element of the engine to the output member of the turbine in the housing. Engagement of the lockup clutch at a relatively low RPM of the engine and/or under certain other circumstances is prevented or minimized by the provision of one or more valves which are designed to establish or to at least partially seal one or more paths for direct flow of hydraulic fluid between two compartments forming part of a chamber in the housing of the torque converter and being disposed at opposite sides of the axially movable piston of the lockup clutch. The valve or valves can be designed to react in response to changing RPM of the housing of the torque converter, in response to changes of the temperature of hydraulic fluid in the housing and/or in response to changes of the viscosity of such fluid.

Abstract: In a method for improving the printing quality for electrographic color printing, print consumables, particularly toner, are monitored in container-exact fashion and substance-specific information are employed for the control of the printing process. Toner expiration dates for the consumables are identified and noted early at the respective printing location. The consumable contained in the container and the amount of consumable contained is thus stored in machine-readable fashion at the container. An information carrier is provided at the container for non-contacting transmission of data and energy from a data read and/or write station to the container. A transponder that is provided with an individual hardware identifier is provided as the information carrier. The hardware identifier may be employed as a component part of codes for device control. The printer or copier system disclosed includes a recycling concept for consumables containers.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device used for the digital detection of transparent and opaque documents, comprising a CCD pick-up element, a document holder, an illuminating device and elements for covering the edges (masking unit) of the documents. The method comprises the following steps: a) placing the document on the document holder; b) determining the size of the document; c) automatically adjusting a zoom objective, assigned to the scanner, in relation to the document; d) automatically adjusting the masking to the document size; e) beginning the exposure process; f) automatically adjusting the illumination by determining the dynamic range of the image intensity; g) exposing the CCD chip in the camera (one shot); h) memorizing the digitized data in a PC memory; i) further processing the memorized data in the PC or in an external data processing installation.

Abstract: An assembly comprises a belt retractor for a vehicle safety belt and a force limiter. The belt retractor comprises a belt spool, and the force limiter comprises a housing and a driving part able to be coupled with the belt spool. The assembly comprises a locking catch connected with the driving part, a release mechanism for the locking catch, and a stationary locking toothing into which the locking catch can be caused to engage by the release mechanism. The release mechanism is able to be activated by a relative rotation between the driving part and the housing of the force limiter and, towards an end of this relative rotation, can cause to engage the locking catch into the locking toothing whereby the belt spool is locked against a rotation in a belt webbing withdrawal direction relative to the locking toothing.

Abstract: An electrographic printer device for printing tape-shaped recording media (10) in duplex and simplex printing contains two transfer printing stations (15/1,15/2) that can be pivoted against and away from the photoconductive drum (11). The first transfer printing station (15/1) serves for transferring toner images allocated to the front side, the second transfer printing station (15/2) serves for transferring back side toner images. A mechanical buffer storage (29) and a turn-over means (28) with preceding intermediate fixing station in the form of a photoflash fixing station (31) are arranged between the transfer printing stations (15/1,15/2).
