  • Publication number: 20140129156
Abstract: A control and measurement system for a coriolis flowmeter having a flowtube, a driver adapted to vibrate the flowtube, and a pair of sensors adapted to generate signals indicative of movement of the flowtube when it is being vibrated by the driver, wherein the sensors are positioned relative to one another so the signals from the sensors are indicative of a mass flow rate of fluid through the flowtube. A digital drive signal generator is adapted to generate a variable digital drive signal for controlling operation of the driver. The digital drive signal generator can be adapted to cause the driver to resist motion of the flowtube during a first time period and amplify motion of the flowtube during a second time period. The digital drive signal generator can also be adapted to initiate motion of the flowtube by sending one or more square wave signals to the driver.

  • Publication number: 20140123463
Abstract: A balloon catheter having a radiopaque coil embedded in the catheter's body corresponding to a landmark of the balloon or other location on the catheter body. The radiopaque coil can be viewed under fluoroscopy to located the balloon or other structure of the catheter. The coil can be readily inserted in the manufacturing process by inserting it between two layers that form the catheter body, and then sealing the coil inside the catheter at the desired location. This facilitates both the manufacturing process and prevents the marker from being dislodged during the manufacturing, navigation, or inflation process.

  • Publication number: 20140126367
Abstract: A network appliance includes a network processor and several processing units. Packets a flow pair are received onto the network appliance. Without performing deep packet inspection on any packet of the flow pair, the network processor analyzes the flows, estimates therefrom the application protocol used, and determines a predicted future time when the next packet will likely be received. The network processor determines to send the next packet to a selected one of the processing units based in part on the predicted future time. In some cases, the network processor causes a cache of the selected processing unit to be preloaded shortly before the predicted future time. When the next packet is actually received, the packet is directed to the selected processing unit. In this way, packets are directed to processing units within the network appliance based on predicted future packet arrival times without the use of deep packet inspection.

  • Publication number: 20140125949
Abstract: One embodiment is a method for finding, calculating and electronically marking a reference axis for astigmatism correction/neutralization of a patient eye during a refractive surgery. The reference axis for astigmatism correction/neutralization can be determined intra-operatively based on one or more eye property measurements together with simultaneous recording a live eye image. The determined reference axis of astigmatism correction/neutralization can be updated and registered with one or more land mark(s) of the recorded eye image(s); and overlaid onto a live image of the eye. Another embodiment is a method of calculating and displaying in real time compensated refractive errors of the eye under operation with refractive components due to temporary surgically induced factors removed and refractive components due to surgeon-induced factors added.

  • Publication number: 20140128270
Abstract: The invention is a method of determining nucleotide sequence of a target nucleic acid using microarray analysis. Hybridization signals from probe sets corresponding to the sense and anti-sense strands are compared at each nucleotide position. If there is a substantial difference in performance between the two strands, probe sets from a poorly performing stand are eliminated from the sequence determination calculation for a particular nucleotide.

  • Publication number: 20140125544
Abstract: Multipath reception by an antenna is reduced by mounting the antenna on a semi-transparent ground plane that has a controlled distribution of layer impedance over a central region and a peripheral region. The central region includes a continuous conductive segment on which the ground element of the antenna is disposed. The distribution of the layer impedance over the peripheral region is configured by multiple conductive segments electromagnetically coupled by lumped circuit elements. A semi-transparent ground plane can be fabricated by depositing a metal film on a dielectric substrate and etching grooves into the metal film to form a desired pattern of conductive segments. Lumped circuit elements can be fabricated as discrete devices, surface mount devices, and integrated circuit devices. Various semi-transparent ground planes can be configured for linearly-polarized and circularly-polarized radiation.

  • Publication number: 20140128008
Abstract: A same-aperture any-frequency simultaneously transmit and receive (STAR) system includes a signal connector having a first port electrically coupled to an antenna, a second port electrically coupled to a transmit signal path, and a third port electrically coupled to receive signal path. The signal connector passes a transmit signal in the transmit signal path to the antenna and a receive signal in the receive signal path. A signal isolator is positioned in the transmit signal path to remove a residual portion of the receive signal from transmit signal path. An output of the signal isolator provides a portion of the transmit signal with the residual portion of the receive signal removed. A signal differencing device having a first input electrically coupled to the output of the signal isolator and a second input electrically coupled to the third port of the signal connector subtracts a portion of the transmit signal in the receive signal path thereby providing a more accurate receive signal.

  • Publication number: 20140125805
Abstract: A system and method for the capture and storage of data relating to the movements of objects, in a specified area and enables this data to be displayed in a graphically meaningful and useful manner. Video data is collected and video metadata is generated relating to objects (persons) appearing in the video data and their movements over time. The movements of the objects are then analyzed to detect the movements within a region of interest. This detection of movement allows a user, such as a manager of a store, to make informed decisions as to the infrastructure and operation of the store. One detection method relates to the number of people that are present in a region of interest for a specified time period. A second detection method relates to the number of people that remain or dwell in a particular area for a particular time period. A third detection method determines the flow of people and the direction they take within a region of interest.
