  • Patent number: 12118076
Abstract: A physically-tagged data cache memory mitigates side channel attacks by using a translation context (TC). With each entry allocation, control logic uses the received TC to perform the allocation, and with each access uses the received TC in a hit determination. The TC includes an address space identifier (ASID), virtual machine identifier (VMID), a privilege mode (PM) or translation regime (TR), or combination thereof. The TC is included in a tag of the allocated entry. Alternatively, or additionally, the TC is included in the set index to select a set of entries of the cache memory. Also, the TC may be hashed with address index bits to generate a small tag also included in the allocated entry used to generate an access early miss indication and way select.

  • Patent number: 12115750
Abstract: A normalizing system for use with a case former, the system's components function and use are provided. Components of the system include a frame that defines a blank magazine area and a case forming area. Case pickers within the blank magazine area are configured to engage and lift a top-most case blank from the magazine. The pickers transfer the blank to left and right clamp assemblies, which grasp respective edges of the blank and then advance the blank toward the case forming area along a linear pathway. Alignment sensors positioned across the pathway detect if the case blank is in alignment as determined by the value of the angle(s) that the leading edge of the blank forms where it intersects each of the alignment sensors. If misalignment is detected, servos which control the rate of advancement of the clamp assemblies, adjust that rate to bring the blank back into alignment.

  • Publication number: 20240340090
Abstract: The quantum relay and quantum signal source exploit quantum properties of photon streams. A pair of spatially separated and polarization-entangled photon streams is used. The pair collectively exist in a quantum superposition state by virtue of their mutual entanglement. In the relay, an encoder establishes a modulation control signal corresponding to the information to be conveyed. An optical quantum circuit is placed in the path of one of the pair of streams, so that the first stream passes through it. The optical quantum circuit alters the quantum polarization state of the photon passing through it based on the control signal. In this way information is encoded into quantum probability distributions of the superposition state through quantum parallelism and quantum interference, whereby information is conveyed in the photon streams.

  • Publication number: 20240338281
Abstract: A disclosed framework enables virtually any aggressive Recovery Point Objective (RPO) to be enforced for a production database, without limitation on type of database management system (DBMS) or size of the production database. The framework overcomes technological barriers of the prior art, such as bottlenecks presented by a storage manager computer that traditionally managed database backups. To avoid the bottlenecks, an illustrative data storage management system does not engage the storage manager computer in storage operations that could impact the database RPO. Certain components are added and enhanced to autonomously capture database transaction logs, which are stored securely and persistently away from the DBMS. In a separate and less frequent operation, and with involvement of the storage manager computer, the illustrative system generates secondary copies in their final form. Meanwhile, temporary backup files can be used in restore operations without first being converted into secondary copies.

  • Publication number: 20240338147
Abstract: A distributed data storage system using erasure coding (EC) provides advantages of EC data storage while retaining high resiliency for EC data storage architectures having fewer data storage nodes than the number of EC data-plus-parity fragments. An illustrative embodiment is a three-node data storage system with EC 4+2. Incoming data is temporarily replicated to ameliorate the effects of certain storage node outages or fatal disk failures, so that read and write operations can continue from/to the storage system. The system is equipped to automatically heal failed EC write attempts in a manner transparent to users and/or applications: when all storage nodes are operational, the distributed data storage system automatically converts the temporarily replicated data to EC storage and reclaims storage space previously used by the temporarily replicated data. Individual hardware failures are healed through migration techniques that reconstruct and re-fragment data blocks according to the governing EC scheme.

  • Patent number: 12110372
Abstract: The present invention is directed toward transparent films prepared from soluble aromatic copolyamides with glass transition temperatures greater than 300° C. The copolyamides, which contain pendant carboxylic groups are solution cast into films using N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc), N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone (NMP), or other polar solvents. The films are thermally cured at temperatures near the copolymer glass transition temperature. After curing, the polymer films display transmittances >80% from 400 to 750 nm, have coefficients of thermal expansion of less than 20 ppm, and are solvent resistant. The films are useful as flexible substrates for microelectronic devices.
