Publication number: 20010027448Abstract: A postage meter has a locking cam follower so that locking arms on the print wheels of the postage meter are able to lock the wheels from unintended movement when the print rotor is out of its home position. Stiff runners are provided below guide rods of setting racks in the rotor so that the racks cannot be displaced away from the value wheels. A sensor is placed on the rotor cover with the meter software set up to keep a print cycle from starting if the cover is open. A cam on the rotor makes it impossible to open the cover when the rotor is out of the home position. A latch holds the cover shut, and the only way the latch can be released is if the meter software releases it, for example by sliding a rack to a position that triggers the latch. Cogs and cog teeth are used instead of gears and gear teeth to reduce the possibility of unintended movement of the value wheels. Rotating disks lock the racks when the rotor is not in the home position.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 22, 2001Publication date: October 4, 2001Applicant: ASCOM Hasler Mailing System AGInventors: Stephan Schor, Stefan Etter, Beat Stulz, Thomas Nietlispach, Christian Gillieron, Christian Moy

Patent number: 6290989Abstract: The present invention describes a device for the controlled release of active compounds in the gastrointestinal tract with delayed pyloric passage, having a component expandable on contact with gastric juice, which is surrounded by a polymer covering which is permeable to gastric juice and active compounds. The device contains at least one active compound which is present in a multiparticulate preparation which releases the active compound into the gastric juice with a delay. Compared with conventional pharmaceutical forms with delayed pyloric passage, the release of active compound from a device according to the invention can be better controlled; likewise the device can be easily rolled or folded and can be introduced into capsules without problems.Type: GrantFiled: August 31, 1999Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: LTS Lohmann Therapie-Systeme AGInventors: Bodo Asmussen, Karsten Cremer, Hans-Rainer Hoffmann, Karin Ludwig, Michael Roreger

Patent number: 6290642Abstract: The suit according to the invention comprises, as well as a textile lining and an oversuit, an active part lying between them. This is at least partly made from a layer (3) on the body side and a layer (4) away from it, both of a fluid-tight, low stretch textile material, which are connected to each other at connection positions (6) by gluing, welding or sewing and thereby create hollow spaces (5), which are filled with fluid through valves (16, 17). Between regions, which comprise the layers (3, 4), for instance the upper part (14) and the front part (15), joining parts can be arranged, which transmit tensile forces only. This builds up a compensating pressure proportional to the acceleration working in the momentary and local direction on the parts of the body lying beneath and thus takes the load off the organism of the pilot arising from the effects of such accelerations.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2000Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: LSS Life Support System AGInventors: Andreas Reinhard, Wendelin Egli
