Patent number: 8627529Abstract: A central pressurized air supply selectively couples pressurized air to one or more dock levelers to pivot a hinged ramp of a dock leveler. Each dock leveler includes an inflatable member to which the pressurized air is selectively coupled, and the inflatable member is arranged to pivot about the hinged ramp of a respective dock leveler. A control system allows continued operation of the system during adverse conditions.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2011Date of Patent: January 14, 2014Assignee: Systems, Inc.Inventor: Gerard Martin Palmersheim

Publication number: 20050169422Abstract: An embodiment of the invention is directed to a computed tomography device, comprising a tunnel to receive baggage, an x-ray source providing an x-ray beam that intersects the tunnel and has a beam angle of 120°, a gantry that oscillates relative to the tunnel through an oscillation angle that equals 270°, and a plurality of detectors. The plurality of detectors are mounted to the gantry and adapted to receive x-rays from the x-ray source. In addition, the plurality of detectors are arranged in a horseshoe-shaped configuration in which at least one first detector is located a furthest distance from the x-ray source and at least one second detector is disposed on each side of the at least one first detector and is disposed closer to the x-ray source than the at least one first detector.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 21, 2004Publication date: August 4, 2005Applicants: Systems, Inc.Inventor: Michael Ellenbogen

Patent number: 6081954Abstract: A loading dock includes a dock leveler movable between raised and lowered positions. The dock leveler includes a dock board and a lip assembly that can be horizontally extended and retracted relative to the forward edge of the dock board. The ability of the lip to extend and retract horizontally means that the dock board does not have to be raised as far to extend the lip as in prior dock levelers having a pivotally mounted lip. This eliminates or reduces the need for toe protection structure at the sides of the dock board and enhances manufacturing economy without compromising safety.Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Systems, Inc.Inventors: Gerard M Palmersheim, Kenneth Gelder

Patent number: 5457838Abstract: A dock leveler for providing a bridge into the rear end of a truck trailer over which a fork vehicle can travel in loading the truck trailer. The dock leveler includes a ramp with a rear section and an extendible forward section. The forward section telescopically extends from and retracts into the rear section under power from a hydraulic cylinder. The forward section can be locked in place to prevent retraction of said forward section relative to said rear section under the traction developed by the drive wheels of a fork vehicle as the fork vehicle travels over the dock leveler. Various structures for indicating the amount of overlap of the dock leveler on the truck trailer are also provided.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1993Date of Patent: October 17, 1995Assignee: Systems, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth Gelder, Gerard M. Patent number: 5452489Abstract: A dock leveler is mounted in a pit formed in the floor of the loading dock area of a factory, warehouse or similar facility. The loading dock includes an overhead door adjacent the dock leveler. The dock leveler is retractable so that, when it is not in use, it can be stored fully within the facility inboard of the overhead door. To prevent vehicles from inadvertently falling off the end of the stored dock leveler, the dock leveler includes a raisable barrier. When raised, the barrier is located between the end of the dock leveler and the overhead door. In addition to preventing vehicles from accidentally running off the end of the dock leveler, the barrier also protects the overhead door from accidental collisions with such vehicles. When the dock leveler is in use, the barrier folds away to a position below the extendible ramp. Alternatively, the dock leveler can be non-retractable and the barrier can be raised and lowered in from of the ramp.Type: GrantFiled: September 21, 1993Date of Patent: September 26, 1995Assignee: Systems, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth Gelder, Gerard M. Patent number: 4963068Abstract: A trailer restraint positively restrains a trailer against a dock by means of the trailer ICC bar. The trailer restraint is self-aligning with an ICC bar located anywhere within its range of operation. The trailer restraint comprises a shoe that pivots on a trunnion shaft within a housing located under the trailer ICC bar. The trunnion shaft is slidable within the housing against a strong spring. A hydraulically operated slider advances to pivot the shoe until a working surface thereof contacts the trailer ICC bar. Further advancement of the slider causes the shoe to pivot about the contact point of the shoe on the ICC bar, thereby sliding the trunnion shaft until the shoe working surface is aligned with the trailer ICC bar. A lock bar received on the trunnion shaft slides therewith. A pawl engages teeth on the lock bar to prevent further sliding of the lock bar and trunnion shaft.Type: GrantFiled: January 23, 1989Date of Patent: October 16, 1990Assignee: Systems, Inc.Inventor: Kenneth M.
