Patent number: 7780867Abstract: Chemical etching methods and associated modules for performing the removal of metal from the edge bevel region of a semiconductor wafer are described. The methods and systems apply liquid etchant in a precise manner at the edge bevel region of the wafer, so that the etchant is applied on to the front edge, the side edge and the back edge. The etchant thus does not flow or splatter onto the active circuit region of the wafer. An edge bevel removal embodiment involving that is particularly effective at obviating streaking, narrowing the metal taper and allowing for subsequent chemical mechanical polishing, is disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2005Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Novellus Systems, Inc.Inventors: Steven T. Patent number: 7783330Abstract: A host computer communicates with field devices over a wireless network that includes a gateway and a plurality of wireless nodes. At least one of the field devices is associated with each wireless node, and each field device has a unique field device address. The host computer sends control messages to field devices using their field device addresses. The gateway translates the field device address of a control message to a wireless address of the wireless node with which the field device is associated. The gateway sends a wireless message over the network to the wireless node at the wireless address. The message contains the field device address so that, when the wireless message is received and opened, the control message from the host computer can be routed to the intended field device based upon the field device address.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2007Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Fisher-Rosemount Systems, Inc.Inventors: Patrick M. Patent number: 7780352Abstract: A detector array is disposed relative to a radiation source such that radiation from the radiation source over a predetermined time period is substantially similar across the detector array. The detector array includes radiation detectors operatively coupled to detector electronics. The radiation filter material is disposed at least partially between the radiation source and the detector array such that different portions of the detector array are exposed to radiation from the radiation source through either different radiation filter material thicknesses or different radiation filter material compositions during the predetermined time period. So configured, information regarding the radiation such as beam quality information for radiation pulses is collected and used to confirm the quality of the radiation source or to adjust data collected by the radiation system.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2008Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Varian Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: Timothy R. Patent number: 7784047Abstract: Custom management capability is provided through MBeans over a distributed management domain. The management domain is a collection of distributed servers that are managed as a unit, wherein the management system of the present invention presents an API for providing management services across a network. The common management system allows application designers to accomplish a broad range of management goals. The management network is also simple, abstract in that it separates an application author from the implementation, and is scalable. The system of the present invention supports both configuration and monitoring and is Java standards based. The management system is extensible in that a user can add additional types of management objects, schema attributes and extended persistence features.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 2004Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: BEA Systems, Inc.Inventor: Franklin Fulton Simpson

Patent number: 7783572Abstract: Downloading configuration data to program card terminals and providing real-time data of activity occurring at card terminals. A merchant can log on to a system server and enter information to program options for its card terminals such as via a web page on an Internet site. The system server formats the information into a file based upon a communication protocol and programming rules for the card terminal, and downloads the file to it as a data stream. The card terminal programs itself according to the configuration data. A merchant can also view data for activity occurring at its card terminals, possibly in real-time proximate to detection of the activity by the system server. In conjunction with processing transactions or other activity from the card terminals, the system server replicates the records for the activity and makes them available to merchants such as via a web page on an Internet site.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 2001Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Heartland Payment Systems, Inc.Inventors: Ming-Sum Fang, Alan J. Patent number: 7782190Abstract: A wireless communication method and protocol, and wireless devices and systems for stimulation, are provided for communication between a wireless device and a charging device. During active wireless charging, communications (data transmission) from the wireless device to the charging device occurs via pulse loading the receive antenna of the receiving device. Because switching regulation in the receiving device may interfere with the communications, the switching regulation is disabled during a communications window. To further reduce the likelihood of misinterpretation of signals detected in the charging device resulting from the switching regulation or noise, the data bit rate of the pulse loading communications is maintained higher than the switching regulation frequency.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2007Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Advanced Neuromodulation Systems, Inc.Inventors: Gregory R Martin, Gregg Turi, Marc Shanko, Rami Elghandour, Thomas Palma, William L Winstrom

Patent number: 7783003Abstract: In one example, a radiation scanning system and method rotates a cargo conveyance after removal from a ship for proper orientation with respect to a scanning source and detector, for scanning. A movable carriage may be provided on a crane system, to rotate the cargo conveyance. A rotating flywheel on the carriage rotates in a direction opposite the direction of rotation of the cargo conveyance, to counterbalance angular momentum generated by the rotating conveyance, to avoid or minimize twisting of the carriage. Feedback is provided to control the rotation of the flywheel. Once the cargo conveyance is in the predetermined position, the conveyance is moved between the radiation source and detector for scanning by a vertically extending radiation beam.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2007Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Varian Medical Systems, Inc.Inventors: James E.
