Abstract: Scrap plastic is treated for incorporation into asphalt-aggregate compositions by first shredding the plastic, then heating the shredded plastic to harden any pieces of film or flexible plastic and to generally reduce the size of the shreds without decomposing the plastic, and then grinding the heat-treated pieces to a size that can be blended with an aggregate. The blend is then combined with an asphalt binder to produce an asphalt-aggregate composition. No discrimination among, or selection of, specific types or classes of plastic is required.

Abstract: A method and system to manage network congestion are provided. In one example embodiment, the system comprises a congestion point queue, a monitor to sample a state of the congestion point queue, a consolidated parameter generator to generate a consolidated feedback parameter, and a feedback message generator to generate a feedback message, utilizing the consolidated feedback parameter. The congestion point queue may be configured to queue messages from a reaction point to a congestion point. The state of the congestion point queue may be reflected by an equilibrium queue level, a queue offset, and a rate of change of a size of the congestion point queue. The equilibrium queue level may represent a particular predetermined size of the congestion point queue. The queue offset may represent a deviation from the equilibrium queue level. The consolidated feedback parameter may be generated to reflect the queue offset and the rate of change of the size of the congestion point queue.
Abstract: A client computer converts selected content (e.g., an images, text, audio, etc.) into message formatted content to enable communication of the selected content in a respective message to a picture phone device in a cellular phone network. Additionally, the client computer converts the selected content into web formatted content to enable communication of the selected content to a web browser operating in a web network environment. To make the selected content available for distribution, the client computer creates a web page including a) the web formatted content and b) an address identifying a location of the message format content as it will be stored in a server. The client computer uploads the web page, web formatted content, and message formatted content to a selected server. Viewing of the web page in a browser enables a user to download the message formatted content in the server to a cellular phone.
Abstract: A tooling device configured to manipulate an electrical connector is disclosed. The tooling device has a body and a first pair of prongs pivotally mounted to the body. Each of the prongs of the first pair of prongs is spaced apart. The prongs pivot independent of each other and have an identical configuration.
Abstract: Devices and methods are disclosed for treating a uterine disorder which receive its blood supply from a uterine artery. In particular, uterine fibroids are effectively treated by occluding the uterine arteries using trans-vaginal, trans-uterine, transrectal, or retroperitoneal approaches. The devices and methods are advantageous because the inventive procedures may be performed by a patient's gynecologist in the course of treatment, avoiding the need for referrals to specialist practitioners and for more radical treatments, such as hysterectomies. The methods include both temporary and permanent occlusion of the arteries. A cannula carries an imaging device and a member which will easily penetrate tissue, the member including a device which partially or completely, and temporarily or permanently, occludes a uterine artery.

Abstract: A sample and hold circuit is disclosed that provides longer hold times. The sample and hold circuit can be used in a disc drive to provide improved read-to-write and write-to-read mode transitions. The sample and hold circuit has an input and an output, and includes at least one capacitive element for retaining a charge. The capacitive element is connected to a node between the input and the output. The sample and hold circuit includes at least one input switch to selectively connect the capacitive element to the input and at least one output switch to selectively connect the capacitive element to the output. In addition, an amplifier is connected to the node and has an offset voltage. In this manner, a voltage drop across at least one of the input and output switches is limited to the offset voltage.
Abstract: A method for maximizing server throughput while avoiding overload of a server is presented. The method involves intercepting, via an interface unit, a client request for information from the server. Next, the interface unit determines the current server performance, where the server performance is based on the number of connections opened to the server, the response time of the server and the rate at which the response time is changing. Finally, the interface unit forwards the client request to the server if the current server performance is close to an optimal performance, whereby avoiding overload of the server.

Abstract: A vehicle interior assembly includes: a center console having front and rear terminal ends defining a longitudinal axis; and a sliding portion slidingly engaging the rear terminal end of the console such that the sliding portion is operable to slide in frontward and rearward directions substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the console to cover and uncover at least one storage bin, wherein the sliding portion includes a first portion extending under the rear terminal end of the console and a second portion extending over the rear terminal end of the console to cover and uncover the at least one storage bin.
Abstract: A security gateway receives messages, such as URL requests, rejected by a message filter based on a set of rules. The security gateway maintains frequencies with which the messages were rejected by the rules. The security gateway finds rejected messages having a high frequency of occurrence. Since messages having a high frequency of occurrences are more likely to represent legitimate requests rather than malicious attacks, the security gateway generates exception rules, which would allow similar messages to pass through the gateway.

Abstract: Systems and apparatus enhance transmission of electromagnetic energy through a sub-wavelength aperture. A metal film has an input surface and an output surface and forms the sub-wavelength aperture between the input and output surfaces, a first plurality of grooves on the input surface, and a cavity around the sub-wavelength aperture. The width of the cavity determines a resonant wavelength of electromagnetic energy transmitted through the sub-wavelength aperture. The patterned metal film provides plasmon coupling of electromagnetic energy incident upon the input surface transmit electromagnetic energy through the sub-wavelength aperture.
Abstract: Main memory is managed by receiving a command from an application to read data associated with a virtual address that is mapped to the main memory. A memory controller determines that the virtual address is mapped to one of the symmetric memory components of the main memory, and accesses memory use characteristics indicating how the data associated with the virtual address has been accessed, The memory controller determines that the data associated with the virtual address has access characteristics suited to an asymmetric memory component of the main memory and loads the data associated with the virtual address to the asymmetric memory component of the main memory. After the loading and using the memory management unit, a command is received from the application to read the data associated with the virtual address, and the data associated with the virtual address is retrieved from the asymmetric memory component.
Abstract: A two-stage system for delivering fuel to a gas turbine including a first stage variable pump for serving as a primary source of fuel, a second stage fixed pump for selectively supplementing the variable pump, a bypass valve connected to the fixed pump for loading and unloading the fixed pump and a regulator valve assembly connected to the variable pump and the bypass valve for controlling operation of the variable pump and the bypass valve. Preferably, the two-stage system also includes a control valve connected to the regulator valve assembly for setting a pressure differential across the regulator valve assembly and, thereby, loading and unloading the fixed pump.
