  • Publication number: 20100194604
Abstract: A mobile portal for RFID applications includes an RFID reader for reading identifications of proximately located RFID tagged items in the environment. A communicator is coupled to the RFID reader to receive the read identifications and then communicate the received read identifications over the wireless interface, through one of the gateways, to the central data processing system. Each mobile portal may be actuated for RFID read operations in response to information sensed concerning operation of the mobile asset/vehicle. Additionally, the central data processing system may issue instructions concerning mobile asset/vehicle operation, with those instructions communicated over the wireless interface to the mobile portal. Responsive to implementation of those instructions, the mobile portal actuates the RFID reader and compares the read identifications to identifications of certain RFID tagged items to be manipulated which were identified in the received instruction.

Abstract: An ergonomic control system is disclosed for monitoring and/or controlling ergonomic settings of one or more adjustable furniture units at a user's worksite. The furniture units may include, e.g., a table, a chair, a worksite lighting mechanism, a thermostat, computer monitor, and computer keyboard, and a phone. The control system is distributed over a network, with a central administration subsystem receiving ergonomic current setting data regarding adjustable furniture units from worksites in use. Such current setting data is associated with the current worksite user and stored for subsequent comparison with preferred ergonomic settings thereby to identify users whose settings may be detrimental to their health.

Abstract: Various embodiments provide methods, apparatuses, and systems for sampling a waveform using relatively prime sampling methods. A waveform with a first plurality of cycles and a first frequency may be sampled with a waveform sampling device. Sampling the waveform may include sampling the waveform at a sampling rate of the waveform sampling device. Sampling the waveform may include taking a sample number of samples of the waveform where the sample number may be relatively prime with respect to the number of cycles of the waveform. The sample number of samples of the waveform may be interleaved with a controller.

  • Patent number: 7767085
Abstract: A system for consolidating and removing contaminate such as paint sludge or oils from a fluid mixture. A contaminate tank receives a supply of the fluid mixture containing contaminate from a source such as a manufacturing line where overspray of paints or cleaning solutions containing washed away oils are collected. A free floating weir floats on the surface of the contaminate tank and mechanically separates and removes contaminate from a surface of the contaminate tank and concentrates the contaminate in a consolidation tank. In the consolidation tanks the contaminate is further separated and collected for disposal.

  • Patent number: 7769701
Abstract: We have discovered a system and method for improving the quality of information extraction applications consisting of an ensemble of per-user, adaptive, on-line machine-learning classifiers that adapt to document content and judgments of users by continuously incorporating feedback from information extraction results and corrections that users apply to these results. The satellite classifier ensemble uses only the immediately available features for classifier improvement and it is independent of the complex cascade of earlier decisions leading to the final information extraction result. The machine-learning classifiers may also provide explanations or justifications for classification decisions in the form of rules, other machine-learning classifiers may provide feedback in the form of supporting instances or patterns.

  • Patent number: 7767360
Abstract: An electrochemical cell apparatus is disclosed. The electrochemical cell apparatus includes a membrane-electrode assembly (MEA) having a membrane with a first side and a second side opposite the first side, a first electrode in contact with the first side, and a second electrode in contact with the second side. The apparatus further includes a flow field member and a protector member having a boundary partially defined by a first surface facing toward a center of the MEA. The second electrode has a boundary partially defined by a second surface facing away from the center of the MEA. A first distance from the center of the MEA to the first surface is greater than a correspondingly oriented second distance from the center of the MEA to the second surface, thereby defining a gap between the first surface and the second surface.
