  • Patent number: 9280458
Abstract: A technique reclaims memory pages in a virtualization platform. The technique involves receiving, by a virtual machine of the virtualization platform, an inflate command which directs a balloon driver of the virtual machine to inflate. The technique further involves issuing, by the virtual machine and in response to the inflate command, a sweep request to a hypervisor. The sweep request directs the hypervisor to (i) perform a scan of memory pages allocated to the virtual machine for a predetermined pattern of characters, (ii) de-allocate memory pages having the predetermined pattern of characters from the virtual machine (e.g., zeroed pages), the de-allocated memory pages including super pages and regular pages, and (iii) update a list of memory page mappings to reflect the de-allocated memory pages. The technique further involves completing balloon driver inflation after the list of memory page mappings is updated.

  • Patent number: 9279710
Abstract: A control and measurement system for a coriolis flowmeter having a flowtube, a driver adapted to vibrate the flowtube, and a pair of sensors adapted to generate signals indicative of movement of the flowtube when it is being vibrated by the driver, wherein the sensors are positioned relative to one another so the signals from the sensors are indicative of a mass flow rate of fluid through the flowtube. A digital drive signal generator is adapted to generate a variable digital drive signal for controlling operation of the driver. The digital drive signal generator can be adapted to cause the driver to resist motion of the flowtube during a first time period and amplify motion of the flowtube during a second time period. The digital drive signal generator can also be adapted to initiate motion of the flowtube by sending one or more square wave signals to the driver.

  • Publication number: 20160063171
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for by identifying or generating an electrical schematic, generating a thermal schematic by associating thermal RC circuits of the electronic design with the electrical schematic, performing at least two analyses of an electrical analysis, a thermal analysis, and an electromagnetic interference compliance (EMC) analysis with the electrical schematic and the thermal schematic of the electronic design. The electrical, thermal, and EMC analyses may be performed concurrently by forwarding intermediate or final analysis results to each other, and the analysis results may be presented simultaneously in one or more user interface windows. The thermal schematic may be obtained by extracting the thermal RC circuits, identifying corresponding electrical circuit components that correspond to the extracted thermal RC circuits, and importing the thermal RC circuits into the electrical schematic so that the electrical and thermal schematics have the same nodes.

  • Patent number: 9276900
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards configuring a distributed storage system over a network. Master computers and Subordinate computers may separate components of the distributed storage system. Each subordinate computer may perform actions when connected to the network. When the network provides for site-level multicasting, the subordinate computer broadcasts site-level multicast request(s) for a network address of master computer(s) assigned to that subordinate computer. When the network supports a local domain name system (DNS) server, the subordinate computer provides a DNS query to the local DNS server to obtain from an external server the network address for the master computer(s) assigned to that subordinate computer. When then network supports a master computer as a DNS server, the subordinate computer provides the DNS query to the master computer DNS server to obtain from the external server the network address of the master computer(s) assigned to that subordinate computer.
