Patent number: 9838045Abstract: A system and method for storing compressed data in a memory system includes identifying user data to be compressed and compressing pages of user data to form data extents that are less than or equal to the uncompressed data. A plurality of compressed pages are combined to a least fill a page of the memory. The data may be stored as sectors of a page, where each sector includes a CRC or error correcting code for the compressed data of that sector. The stored data may also include error correcting code data for the uncompressed page and error correcting code for the compressed page. When data is read in response to a user request, the sector data is validated using the CRC prior to selecting the data from the read sectors for decompression, and the error correcting code for the uncompressed page may be used to validate the decompressed data.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2016Date of Patent: December 5, 2017Assignee: VIOLIN SYSTEMS LLCInventor: Jon C. Patent number: 9832276Abstract: An approach for selective dynamic disabling of transport layer handshake spoofing is provided. A local proxy node of a communications network receives request message from a respective local host for establishing a network connection with a remote host. A destination address for the network connection is determined. It is determined whether the destination address is included in a handshake spoofing bypass list. If it is determined that the destination address is included in the spoofing bypass list, a corresponding un-spoofed connection request message is transmitted to a remote proxy node associated with the remote host, in accordance with a respective handshaking protocol for the connection establishment. If it is determined that the destination address is not included in the spoofing bypass list, a corresponding spoofed connection request message is transmitted to the remote proxy node, in accordance with a respective handshake spoofing protocol for the connection establishment.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 2015Date of Patent: November 28, 2017Assignee: Hughes Network Systems, LLCInventors: Robert Torres, Nagesh Javali, John Border, Venkat Ganesan

Publication number: 20170339064Abstract: Dynamic history multistream long range compression (DHC) techniques are described for efficiently compressing multiple, prioritized data streams received over a channel. A history buffer is associated with each received stream and a DHC compressor dynamically allocates fixed sized history sections to and from each history buffer. In implementations, the DHC compressor makes stream history size adjustments prior to compressing a block of data and sends information identifying the change in history size to a DHC decompressor. The DHC decompressor sends signaling information to the DHC compressor that is used to ensure that the DHC decompressor can operate with a fixed amount of total history memory.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2016Publication date: November 23, 2017Applicant: Hughes Network Systems, LLCInventors: Douglas Merrill Dillon, Uday R.
