Patents Assigned to Takata AG
  • Patent number: 8267422
Abstract: An airbag module for a vehicle occupant restraint system is provided. The airbag module comprises an airbag, a gas generator, a gas generator support, and a visible surface facing the vehicle interior in the installed state formed by different segments of the airbag module. At least two of the segments comprise optically and/or haptically different surfaces and are mechanically connected to each other by means of mechanical interfaces such that the mechanical connection between the segments is at least partially released when triggered by opening the interfaces so that an opening is formed in the visible surface through which the airbag can exit the airbag module. All segments contributing to the formation of the opening for the airbag by opening the interfaces when triggered are thereby directly fastened to the gas generator support.

  • Patent number: 8256796
Abstract: A vehicle occupant restraint system includes an inflatable airbag arranged in a vehicle seat. When the airbag is triggered it at least partially unfolds in the direction of travel on a side of the vehicle seat facing the vehicle interior. The vehicle seat includes a backrest frame extending in a substantially vertical direction in the vehicle seat and substantially aligned in the direction of travel. The airbag is connected to a front end of the backrest frame pointing in the direction of travel.

  • Patent number: 8246076
Abstract: An airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraining system including at least one inflatable airbag and an inflating device. The airbag includes a first inflatable area which extends in the inflated status of the airbag in the area of a first body region of the vehicle occupant, and a second inflatable area, which extends in the inflated status of the airbag in the area of a second body region of the vehicle occupant. The first inflatable area has a larger thickness vertical to the main extension plane of the airbag than the second inflatable area. The inflating device and the airbag are designed for inflating the first inflatable area of the airbag to such a high internal pressure that during the impact of the occupant on the airbag a force is exerted onto the first body region of the vehicle occupant which sets the occupant into a tilting motion.

  • Patent number: 8246073
Abstract: An airbag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system is provided. The airbag arrangement comprising an airbag folded into an airbag package, a cover that may be evacuated and encloses the airbag package, a gas generator for inflating the airbag, a receptacle formed by a section of the cover enclosing the airbag package and in which at least one section of the gas generator is housed. The airbag comprising an opening, which forms an inlet to an inflatable area of the airbag and in which the receptacle is arranged at least sectionally or into which the receptacle projects. The gas generator is formed as a tubular gas generator. The opening has a hollow cylindrical area in which the receptacle is arranged, or the opening is formed as a hole in an airbag layer which forms a chamber of the airbag.

  • Patent number: 8246075
Abstract: An airbag module for a vehicle occupant restraint system is provided. The airbag module comprising an airbag and having a visible surface, facing the vehicle interior when installed, which is formed by different segments of the airbag module, wherein at least two of the segments have optically and/or haptically different surfaces. At least two of the segments each have at least one mechanical interface by means of which they can be mechanically connected to at least one of the other segments, forming a connecting area, and at least one of the segments forms at least one tear line, wherein upon tearing open the tear line in the event of deployment an opening is produced in the visible surface through which the airbag can exit the airbag module. Here the mechanical interfaces are designed in such a way that upon tearing open the tear line they endure and do not open.

  • Patent number: 8201848
Abstract: A fixing element fixes a part to a support wall. When the fixing element is inserted into an opening in the support wall and reaches a predetermined end position, the fixing element locks to the support wall. The fixing element includes a stop element, a snap-on element, and an unlocking element. The stop element bears against a side of the support wall when the fixing element is locked to the support wall. The snap-on element is positioned on an inner side of the support wall when the fixing element is locked to the support wall. The unlocking element is connected to the snap-on element. The unlocking element is configured to permit the snap-on element to be unlocked and the fixing element to be removed from the opening. An installation tool and a testing tool may be used in conjunction with the fixing element.
