    Abstract: Provided are a mounting structure of driver airbag unit and a steering wheel of a simple structure, but which allow the driver airbag unit to be easily mounted on the steering wheel so as to slightly move. A driver airbag unit 20 is mounted on the steering wheel 1 so as to move toward and away from the driver, and biased toward the driver by coil springs 60. The driver airbag unit 20 is mounted on the steering wheel 1 by connection of leg members 40, projecting from a retainer 30 in a direction away from the driver, to the steering wheel 1. The leg members 40 are allowed to slightly move with respect to the retainer 30 at least away from and toward the driver.

    Abstract: Provided are an airbag, an airbag unit, and a vent hole open/close control method that facilitate control of opening and closing of a vent hole, and suppress an increase in weight and cost of the airbag unit vent hole. The airbag 1 includes a vent hole 4, an open/close device 5 configured to open and close the vent hole 4, and a stretch tether 6 stretchable in stages and connected to the open/close device 5 and an airbag component. The stretch tether 6 assumes, depending on an expansion and unfolding status of the airbag 1, a first stage including transition from a slack state to a tense state, a second stage including stretching to a predetermined length while maintaining the tense state, and a third stage including being slackened when the driver contacts the airbag 1. The open/close device 5 maintains the vent hole 4 in the open state in the first stage, maintains the vent hole 4 in the closed state in the second stage, and shifts the vent hole 4 to the open state in the third stage.

    Abstract: During an emergency, in one form of a retractor having a spool, external teeth of a pawl provided at a spool right side end are made to mesh with some of internal teeth provided on a frame, and, with load acting on a seat belt, a spool left side end is brought into contact with a spool pushing portion. Since the spool left side end tends to be moved further in a direction of seat belt load with the load acting on the seat belt, the spool pushing portion pushes the spool left side end, whereby some of external teeth come into contact with internal teeth provided on the frame and fit deeply into gaps between adjacent ones of the internal teeth. Thus, some of the external teeth of the spool effectively come into mesh with the respective internal teeth of the frame with a simple movement of the spool.

A retainer 3 includes a first hook 31 that is fittable in the recess 42 and contactable with a bottom face 42a of the recess 42, and second hooks 32 that are contactable with inner faces 43a of the retaining holes 43. The retainer 3 is centered in a width direction by fitting the first hook 31 in the recess 42, and the side wall portion 41 is clamped in a standing direction by the first hook 31 and the second hooks 32 by contacting the first hook 31 with the recess 42 and contacting the second hooks 32 with the retaining holes 43.

    Abstract: A seat belt retractor is provided that realizes the proper meshing between a plurality of internal teeth and external teeth with a simple movement of a spool. In the case of an emergency, external teeth of a pawl provided at a spool right side end mesh with internal teeth provided on a frame, and, with load acting on a seat belt, a spool left side end contacts a spool guide. Since the spool left side end tends to move further in the direction of seat belt load, the spool guide brings one external tooth at the spool left side end into contact with one target internal tooth provided on the frame. Hence, some of the spool external teeth are made to mesh properly with the respective internal teeth. Thus, some of the spool external teeth effectively mesh with the respective frame internal teeth with simple movement of the spool.
