  • Patent number: 4932978
Abstract: A continuous finishing process for flexible materials using a continuous printing machine of the thousand dot type. A small controlled amount of a finishing product, comprising 90 to 100% of photopolymerizable active material, is deposited at a rate of 5 to 35 g/m.sup.2 per pass in the printing machine. The finishing product is then photopolymerized, and a satining or graining operation is performed. The above stages are repeated until the desired finish is obtained. The finishing product is photopolymerizable under ultraviolet radiation and comprises unsaturated prepolymers, liquid monomers, and photoinitiators. The apparatus comprises at least one module comprising a continuous printing machine, an ultraviolet radiation oven, and a satining or graining machine, these various machines being placed so as to achieve a continuous conveying of pieces to be treated from one machine to the other.

  • Patent number: 4932308
Abstract: A weapon system including a carriage and a launching tube for a projectile mounted to the carriage on a cradle in a manner which secures the launch tube to the cradle during transportation, handling and storage and yet permits recoil of the launching tube. Bosses having the shape of stubs are attached to the launching tube and bosses having the shape of mortices forming grooves on the cradle form complementary pairs of elements which connect the launching tube transversely with respect to the cradle without opposing the recoil of the launching tube; the cradle thus forms a zero length ramp for the launching tube. Removable reinforcement pins are provided to secure the launching tube to the cradle. The bosses and the reinforcement pins are placed symmetrically with respect to a central longitudinal axis of the launching tube.

  • Patent number: 4930999
Abstract: A precompression metering pump of the prior art which is otherwise particularly advantageous, is nevertheless difficult to prime because of the high degree of compressibility of the air it initially contains in its pump chamber. The present invention improves this aspect of metering pump operations. It consists in providing additional resilient means (20) and at least one cylindrical part (10) level with the conventional outlet non-return valve of the pump and constituting a second outlet non-return valve. In a particular embodiment, the resilient means and the cylindrical part are received one above the other in the outlet channel (33) of the pump actuator rod (31). To do this, they bear respectively against a choking step (32) in the form of a lug and a shoulder (34) presented by said channel. In normal operation, the differential piston (4) of the pump moves out of the way so that operation takes place as in a prior art precompression metering pump.

At least one slot (6) is provided in the inside wall of said tube in the vicinity of its opening (5), the slot being disposed in a plane perpendicular to the axis of said tube and sloping towards the opening. The slot is fed with gas so as to blow a continuous sheet of gas into the tube. At least one porous plate is disposed on the inside wall of said tube between the slot (6) and the opening (5), and the plate is fed with a gas which forms a small flow of gas suitable for overcoming the pressure reduction formed by the sheet of gas leaving from said slot (6). The enclosure is maintained at a pressure which is slightly higher than its surroundings so as to create a flow of gas running along said tube (2) and deflecting the sheet or sheets of gas leaving the slot (6) towards the opening (5).

  • Patent number: 4896612
Abstract: A pallet system formed of a unitary, plastic molded, grid-like base made of intersecting, spaced apart, longitudinal and transverse strips, whose upper edges define a carrying surface. The lower edges of at least some of the longitudinal strips are generally coplanar to form a skid-like base support surface that may be positioned upon a conveyor. The lower edges of the remaining strips are recessed relative to the plane of the support surface. A unitary, plastic molded nest, having integral upper formations shaped to receive corresponding portions of supported articles, is rested upon the base and overlaps some of the openings in the grid-like base. Integral projections on the nest extend into their adjacent overlapped openings and engage the sides of adjacent strips for accurately positioning the nest relative to the base.

  • Patent number: 4895316
Abstract: A reel is formed of a plastic molded hub and side, disk-like flanges. The hub is made of thin-wall, cylindrical rings that are arranged end-to-end, and the flanges are made of two or more separate radial sections having radially oriented, overlapped edges that fasten together. Removable mechanical fasteners extend through passageways formed in the hub rings and through the flanges for fastening them together. The width of the reel may be varied by changing the number of rings. The diameters of the flanges may be varied by blocking off the outer portions of the mold in which the flask sections are molded to remove selected amounts of the peripheral portions of the sections for reducing the flange diameter. The hub rings and flange sections are interchangeable with like rings and sections for repair or reduced inventory purposes.
