Abstract: The invention relates to a device for making a sealed connection of adaptable length suitable for interconnecting two pipes whose axes are not necessarily in alignment. The device in accordance with the invention comprises a flange placed on each pipe with each flange being provided with a spherical bearing surface on its end face and with a spherical bearing surface on its opposite face. A central tube has a thrust member mounted at each end thereof, each thrust member including a void for receiving at least one spacer. The tube is also provided with a flange which serves to bring the spacer against a sealing ring pressed against the end face of the flange by being clamped to a backing flange. The backing flange has a spherical surface that cooperates with the spherical surface of the opposite face of the pipe-mounted flange. At least one of said thrust members receives at least two spacers separated by sealing ring. The invention also provides a clamping method.

Abstract: An indirect firing fastener driving tool is provided including a barrel (51), a piston (6) sliding in the barrel for driving a fastener (3) housed in a fastener guide (7). Between the barrel (51) and the fastener guide (7) are disposed a rigid ring (22) and a resilient ring (24). Inside the resilient ring (24) is disposed a rigid ring (27) for limiting the stroke of the ring (22) intended to be received in a recess (25) provided at the rear part of the fastener guide (7). The head (14) of the piston is of a truncated cone shape and may cooperate with a bore (23) of corresponding shape in the rigid ring (22). The rings serve as absorber for the piston (6) whose stroke is thus controlled.

Abstract: The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for the processing or treatment of fluids containing suspended particles and more particularly usable for the processing or treatment of gases and liquids contaminated by radioactive particles. The fluid to be treated undergoes a treatment cycle in the circuit. This cycle comprises a filtering stage performed in the filtering apparatus in order to extract part of the fluid in the purified state and a separating stage performed in the separating device for extracting part of the particles present in suspended form in the fluid. It is possible to commence the processing cycle either by the filtering stage, or by the separating stage. The particle-depleted fluid from the separating stage or the particle-enriched fluid from the filtering stage undergoes a further processing cycle after adding thereto fluid to be treated by means of the pipe.

Abstract: The invention relates to a composite material, which comprises a sheet of insulating matter comprising on one face a meandering strip of Constantan covered with zones of copper, so as to define a fluxmeter formed by successive rows of individual thermocouples. Between the rows defined between the meanders of the strip are provided free spaces in which are made first patterns likewise of Constantan constituting a first arm of a thermocouple; the other face of the insulating sheet is coated with a sheet of copper in which are provided second patterns likewise of copper constituting a second arm of thermocouples. The first patterns and the second patterns are in electrical contact by metal welds also of copper, thus forming temperature detector thermocouples. A composite material is thus obtained forming a fluxmeter and a temperature sensor combined in a single device making it possible to detect the measurements in one plane, which is easy to manufacture.

Abstract: A prefabricated electric connection device includes a set of bars which extend parallel to each other. Intermediate connection members each provided with an external insulating sleeve are fixed to respective ones of the bars and extend forwards perpendicularly to the bars. The bars are drilled with aligned holes through which extend, with interposition of the insulating sleeves, the intermediate connection members fixed at their rear ends to the bars situated behind a first bar.
Abstract: A flat, flexible, plastic container has an openable and a closed end separated by a sealed region dividing the container into a first and second chambers. The first chamber extends from the openable end to the closed end which contains a filtration assembly separating the first and second chambers. When the first chamber is positioned above the second chamber and filled with contaminated fluid, gravity draws the contaminated water from the first chamber through the filtration assembly to fill the second chamber with filtered water.
Abstract: A temperature control system for cooking apparatus, for example, a fryer using cooking oil or shortening which is heated by a suitable heating element. The cooking apparatus has different modes of operation including start-up mode, idle mode and cooking mode. Overshoot to a temperature above the setpoint temperature is limited during start-up mode, idle mode and cooking mode with the apparatus having different temperature control characteristics based on the mode of operation and adapting variable parameters to achieve optimum temperature control accuracy.

Abstract: A method making a sailboard or surfboard is described, in which a prefabricated foam core has fibrous material wound about it and resin specially set with a reaction retarder is poured onto the fibrous material, whereupon the thus treated foam core is inserted in a molding tool and the mold is closed for curing the resin. Desirably, the mold is lined with a surface layer, particularly a deep drawn thermoplastic film, before the treated foam core is inserted. In this way one can make low-weight boards of high strength with relatively low production and material costs.
Abstract: The invention pertains to a method to test the polishing of a mirror by means of a testing device, in a fluid through which rays of light are propagated homogeneously, and a system that puts this method into use. The method consists in placing the mirror on a support, in fixing this support imperviously to one end of a flexibly shaped and/or folding chamber in such a way that its internal volume can be elminated, the testing device being at an opposite end of the chamber, and it further consists in driving out the residual air contained in the chamber is driven out by eliminating its internal volume, then in injecting a volume of fluid into the chamber so that the polishing can be tested, the said testing being done before the support and the mirror are removed in order to correct faults or to finally package the mirror.

Abstract: A convection heat attachment and removal system for surface mounted assemblies is disclosed which uses a flow of heated gas to heat and melt solder contacts between surface mounted components and printed circuit boards. The system protects components adjacent to the workpiece by confining the flow of hot gas within a nozzle conduit which encompasses the workpiece. The system also protects the workpiece from overheating and thermal shock by shielding the workpiece from direct incidence of hot gas and by cooling the top surface of the workpiece with cool air. Relative positioning of the workpiece, the printed circuit board and the source of convection heat is accomplished by an arm mechanism as well as an X-Y table. The positioning means in this system are designed to accommodate a method of precise positioning disclosed herein. Convenient physical and visual access is provided to the workpiece and its location on the printed circuit board at any time during positioning.
Abstract: The technical field of the invention is that of pneumatic snow conveying. The invention relates to a process and device for translational conveying of a pile of snow for the purpose of its being cut off by a drawoff device forming a stationary unit which is associated with the other devices of the pneumatic conveying apparatus. The rate of conveying is controlled by a servo device and the height of the pile of snow is controlled by a crest-trimming device.
