Abstract: The invention relates to improving the endurance of the beads of a radial tire for a heavy vehicle of construction plant type by reducing the cracking that starts at the end of the turn-up and spreads through the polymer coating, edging and filling materials. According to the invention, a transition element, made of a polymer transition material, is at least partially in contact, on its axially outer face, with the polymer edging material and, on its axially inner face, with a polymer filling material, the radially outer and radially inner ends of the transition element are respectively radially on the outside and radially on the inside of the end of the turn-up and the elastic modulus at 10% elongation of the polymer transition material is somewhere between the respective elastic moduluses at 10% elongation of the polymer edging material and of the polymer filling material with which the transition element is in contact.

Abstract: A non-pneumatic wheel with reinforcement bands that provide structural support for the wheel and a method of manufacture of such a wheel are described. The reinforcement band forms part of an annular reinforcement structure that includes foam spacers positioned between the annular reinforcement band. The foam can be a reticulated foam into which a matrix material such as a polyurethane is introduced. Abstract: Systems and methods for improving tire uniformity, for instance to reduce cavity noise and other effects caused by localized tire surface anomalies are provided. The localized tire surface anomaly can be manifested as a local peak of radial nm out or other uniformity parameter (e.g. radial force variation) for the tire. The local peak of radial run out can be within uniformity tolerances for radial run out, but can still contribute to cavity noise through the high harmonic effects caused by the local peak. According to aspects of the present disclosure, the location and/or other identifiable characteristics of a localized tire surface anomaly can be identified. An ablation device can be used on the tread of the tire to remove tire material at an azimuthal location associated with the localized tire surface anomaly to improve the uniformity of the tire.

Abstract: A method for precisely controlling the volume of a product such as a tire tread or tire that is placed into a mold is provided. This method includes providing a tread or tire that is built upon a portable mold core by laying a series of layers on the portable mold core. The outer diameter of the tire tread or tire is initially built to be purposely smaller than the interior surfaces of the mold in order to prevent any interference from occurring between the mold and the tire tread once the tire tread and core are placed within the mold and the mold is closed. The weight of the tire tread or tire is measured to see if the volume of the tire tread or tire is within acceptable parameters to fit within the mold. If not, additional material is added to the tire or tire tread.
