Abstract: A diene rubber composition for tires based on at least (i) one diene elastomer, (ii) one reinforcing inorganic filler and (iii) one coupling agent which provides the bonding between the inorganic filler and the elastomer. The inorganic filler comprises at least one silica capable of being obtained by the preparation process of the type comprising the reaction of a silicate with an acidifying agent, whereby a silica suspension is obtained, followed by the separation and the drying of this suspension. The reaction of the silicate with the acidifying agent is carried out according to the following successive stages: (i) an aqueous suspension of precipitated silica, exhibiting a pH of between 2.5 and 5.3, is brought into contact (mixing) with acidifying agent and silicate, in such a way that the pH of the reaction medium is maintained between 2.5 and 5.3, (ii) silicate is added to the reaction medium obtained, so as to increase the pH of the reaction medium up to a value of between 4.7 and 6.3.

Abstract: Disclosed is a tire mountable apparatus and method that includes a substrate defining a longitudinal direction, a top surface and a bottom surface. The substrate has a plurality of conductor terminals arranged in a substantially linear relationship. A first support element is located below the bottom surface of the substrate and a second support element is located above the top surface of the substrate. The plurality of conductor terminals are positioned between the first and second support elements. The substrate may be a piezoelectric device having a piezoelectric layer arranged between first and second conductive layers. Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel catalytic system for polymerization, and more particularly for preparing conjugated diene polymers bearing a polar function at the chain end. This catalytic system is based on a metal salt of a rare-earth metal and, as alkylating agent, an organometallic compound based on a metal belonging to the 2nd column or the 13th column of the Periodic Table, capable of transferring a polar function to the diene elastomer during the conjugated diene polymerization step. The novel catalytic system makes it possible to reduce the steps for synthesizing a chain-end functionalized elastomer, while ensuring optimal functionalization, advantageously close or equal to 100%.

Abstract: Particular embodiments include a retreaded tire and a method for retreading a tire. A method may include providing a tire tread having a thickness and a width with grooves extending into the thickness from a tread top side, and providing a tire carcass having an annular tread-receiving side. The method may include applying the tread to the tire carcass with a layer of bonding material arranged between the tread and the tire carcass, and evacuating a gas from between the tire carcass and the tread bottom side through an aperture extending through the tread thickness, the aperture being formed by piercing the tread thickness with a suctioning member arranged in operable communication with a vacuum source, and bonding the tread to the tire carcass. In particular embodiments, portions of the bottom side of the tread beneath the grooves are not bonded to the tire carcass or the bonding layer.

Abstract: Methods and systems for improving tire uniformity through identification of characteristics of one or more candidate process effects are provided. The magnitudes of process harmonics associated with one or more candidate process effects can be identified by combining uniformity measurements for a set of tires to achieve an enhanced resolution for a sampling of the process harmonic. The enhanced resolution approach can combine uniformity measurements for a set of a plurality of tires that are slightly offset from one another to generate a composite process harmonic sampling. In particular, the composite process harmonic sampling can be generated by aligning the uniformity measurements for each tire in the set of tires based on the azimuthal location of the maximum magnitude of the process harmonic on each tire. The magnitude of the process harmonic can then be determined using the composite process harmonic sampling.
