  • Patent number: 9213002
Abstract: An apparatus and method for evaluating the ability of a tire to clean its tread is provided. For example, an apparatus (100) and method for evaluating the ability of a tire to eject materials such as e.g., mud from its tread during use is provided. Samples (10) of a subject test pattern are rotated at predetermined rpm profile. A camera (170) captures the effect of centrifugal forces on the materials during rotation, which in turn may be used to compare how differences in tread patterns impact the ejection of materials (15) from the tread during use.

  • Publication number: 20150352816
Abstract: The invention discloses an insulation component and a molding process for the same. The insulation component comprises an inner insulation foam layer and a layer, manufactured by reaction injection molding, of seamless stiff polymer material surrounding the inner insulation foam layer. The insulation component of the invention is made by reaction injection molding. Since the insulation component of this invention is made by forming a seamless stiff polymer material layer surrounding the inner insulation foam layer via reaction injection-molding, the sealing is good, a pre-assembled component is not required, the producing process is simple and the production cost is low.

  • Patent number: 9207150
Abstract: The present invention provides structures on the tread of a tire that improve the evacuation of mud, soil and the like. In particular, different tread features are provided that may improve the evacuation of mud, soil and the like by themselves or by strategically combining them. These different tread features may be tested to see how they affect mud evacuation at different rotational speeds by a test apparatus that mimics the performance of a tire. For example, a tread that has offset shoulder tread blocks, which shows good mud evacuation at lower speeds, may be combined with shoulder grooves with pockets that show good mud evacuation at intermediate speeds to see if this combination provides a solution that has the lowest change of speed necessary to evacuate 50-87% of the mud found in the grooves.
