Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to server controlled adaptive back off for overload protection. The server controls a back off period for each request, which indicates a retry time of when a request should be resent to the server. This back off approach relies on the server since the server has much more accurate information available on which to make back off decisions. The server changes the retry time based on how busy it is and its ability to handle the current load and/or its downstream dependent systems. This back off approach increases server stability during a very high load by spreading the load out over a longer time period. The server is able to turn a traffic spike into a constant load, which is easier and more efficient for the server to handle.

Abstract: An email-to-facsimile (fax) processing system efficiently services requests issued by customers of the system in a fair and impartial manner. The system illustratively includes a plurality of components configured to provide email-to-fax processing services over a network. The components of the email-to-fax system include computer nodes executing software processes and/or services embodied as one or more FaxEmail routers, FaxEmail pollers, Rendering servers and Fax assemblers. The email-to-fax processing services provided by the components illustratively include email storage and retrieval services, email-to-fax conversion services and fax organizational transmission services. One or more of these services may be performed by the components in a randomized fashion to ensure that the customer requests, such as email-to-fax requests, may be fairly and impartially processed by the system.

Abstract: Described herein are compositions comprising shortened fibers of poly-N-acetylglucosamine and/or a derivative thereof (“sNAG nanofibers”) and the use of such compositions in the treatment of various diseases, in particular, diseases associated with decreased tensile strength of tissue, decreased elasticity of tissue, increased collagen content or abnormal collagen content in tissue, abnormal alignment of collagen in tissue, and/or increased myofibroblast content in tissue.

Abstract: A persistent or a semi-persistent uplink resource allocation also comprises an indication for a user equipment UE to send channel quality reports. The format for the channel quality report is determined (based on a transmission mode for which the UE receives a downlink shared channel). In at least first transmissions of user data for instances of the persistently allocated uplink resource the UE sends user data and a channel quality report according to the determined format. For the case that a NACK is received in reply to one of those sent user data with channel quality reports, four options are detailed: re-send the NACK'd user data on a next instance of the persistently allocated UL resource with or without a channel quality report, and re-send the NACK'd user data on a dynamically allocated uplink resource with or without a channel quality report.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for providing a video signature representative of a content of a video signal. A method and apparatus are further disclosed for providing an audio signature representative of a content of an audio signal. A method and apparatus for detecting lip sync are further disclosed and take advantage of the method and apparatus disclosed for providing a video signature and an audio signature.

Abstract: A method forms a gel from a highly-refined cellulose by: providing a composition of highly refined cellulose fiber as at least about 0.5% weight/weight highly refined cellulose to water; adding at least one buffering agent to the composition to maintain the pH of the composition at a pH below 9.5; bringing the buffered composition to an elevated temperature such as a boil; stifling the buffered composition; and cooling the buffered composition to below 25° C. to form a gel, such as a stable gel.

Abstract: Performance of a laser-based moving beam reader for electro-optically reading a target is enhanced in a venue for transmitting an information signal by pulsing ambient light that interferes with operation of the reader. A converter converts the information signal to an analog information signal. A switching power supply is operatively connected to the converter and to a lighting fixture that emits the ambient light. The switching power supply receives the analog information signal from the converter, generates an output analog control signal from the received analog information signal, and controls the light fixture with the output analog control signal to emit the ambient light in a time-varying, non-pulsed, analog manner to mitigate interference with the operation of the reader.

Abstract: According to this disclosure, a proxy server is enhanced to be able to interpret instructions that specify how to modify an input object to create an output object to serve to a requesting client. Typically the instructions operate on binary data. For example, the instructions can be interpreted in a byte-based interpreter that directs the proxy as to what order, and from which source, to fill an output buffer that is served to the client. The instructions specify what changes to make to a generic input file. This functionality extends the capability of the proxy server in an open-ended fashion and enables it to efficiently create a wide variety of outputs for a given generic input file. The generic input file and/or the instructions may be cached at the proxy. The teachings hereof have applications in, among other things, the delivery of web content, streaming media, and the like.

Abstract: In some examples, a memory device is configured to load multiple pages of an internal page size into a cache in response to receiving an activate command and to write multiple pages of the internal page size into a memory array in response to receiving a precharge command. In some implementations, the memory array is arranged to store multiple pages of the internal page size in a single physical row.

Abstract: A method for using voiceprint identification to operate voice recognition and electronic device thereof are provided. The method includes the following steps: receiving a specific voice fragment; cutting the received specific voice fragment into a plurality of specific sub-voice clips; performing a voiceprint identification flow to the specific sub-voice clips, respectively; determining whether each of the specific sub-voice clips is an appropriate sub-voice clip according to a result of the voiceprint identification flow; and capturing the appropriate sub-voice clips and operating a voice recognition thereto.

Abstract: The present invention provides a transaction interface to be used between semiconductor intellectual property cores. The urgency attribute of pending transactions can be changed by a special type of transaction at the interface. The urgency can be incremented, raised to at least an indicated value, or changed to a value as specified. For an interface with multiple pending transactions, a mask can be used to indicate one or more IDs, the transactions of which should be changed.

The key has a key body fixed on the connecting portion and a stopping portion extended from the key body. The key body has a concaving portion aligning the extending portion. The stopping portion is movably arranged in the retaining portion. When non-center portion of the key body is pressed, part of the stopping portion, away from the pressed portion of the key body, abuts against the corresponding retaining potion for being a fulcrum, such that the pressed portion of the key body rotates to press the elastic member.

Abstract: The claimed subject matter provides a system and/or method that facilitates employing safety within an industrial environment. An enhancing component can implement at least one of a security level, authentication, authorization, or an access right to a validated action to at least one of the controller or the controller engine instance. The enhancing component can further separate two or more entities within the industrial environment, the first entity related to process control and the second entity related to process safety. Additionally, the enhancing component can employ at least one of a backup controller or a backup controller engine instance in the event of at least one of a software error or a hardware error within the industrial environment.

Abstract: The present invention is a system and process for livestock waste management that operates more efficiently than existing technologies with less maintenance and with less chemical process components (and thus chemical handling) with recovery of useful end products. The invention comprises solids separation of the waste to remove solids in excess of about 0.50 mm in size prior to anaerobic digestion followed directly by solids separation preferably using an ultra filter and then ammonia recovery.

The virtual network comprises a subset of the nodes selected to provide at least a minimum predetermined level of service to a requesting client. A virtual network controller resides on at least one virtual network node. The controller routes the requested media to at least one other virtual network node for formatting before delivering the suitably formatted media to the requesting client.

Abstract: An intermediary node, such as an edge node, in a content delivery network (CDN) intercepts a media transmission en-route to a client device. The media transmission and a client profile are analyzed to determine if the media requires additional processing to provide a customized media format before the media is routed to the client device. During message delivery in a CDN, an intermediary edge node intercepts a request for media content from a client device and determines a customized content format based on the request and the client profile before routing the request to an appropriate server.

Abstract: A distributed storage system may store data object instances in persistent storage and may store keymap information for those data object instances in a distributed hash table on multiple computing nodes. Each data object instance may include a composite key containing a user key. The keymap information for each data object instance may map the user key to a locator and the locator to the data object instance. A request to store or retrieve keymap information for a data object instance may be routed to a particular computing node based on a consistent hashing scheme in which a hash function is applied to a portion of the composite key of the data object instance. Thus, related entries may be clustered on the same computing nodes. The portion of the key to which the hash function is applied may include a pre-determined number of bits or be identified using a delimiter.
