Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of using nanopores to obtain sequence information of sample DNAs in ss test DNAs. The method comprises using speed bumps to stall the ss test DNAs in the nanopores at random positions of the ss test DNAs to obtain sequence information of each and every nucleotides of the sample DNAs, and to construct the whole sequences of the sample DNAs. The present invention also relates to identification and/or isolation of test DNAs having desired sequence(s) using nanopore detectors facilitated by speed bump.
Abstract: Embodiments of a color filter array include a plurality of tiled minimal repeating units, each minimal repeating unit comprising an M×N set of individual filters, and each individual filter in the set having a photoresponse selected from among four different photoresponses. Each minimal repeating unit includes a checkerboard pattern of filters of the first photoresponse, and filters of the second, third, and fourth photoresponses distributed among the checkerboard pattern such that the filters of the second, third, and fourth photoresponses are sequentially symmetric about one or both of a pair of orthogonal axes of the minimal repeating unit.
Abstract: A method includes destructively reading bits of a spin torque magnetic random access memory and immediately writing back the original or inverted values. A detection of the majority state of the write back bits and a conditional inversion of write back bits are employed to reduce the number of write back pulses. A subsequent write command received within a specified time or before an original write operation is commenced will cause a portion of the write back pulses or the original write operation pulses to abort. Write pulses during subsequent write operations will follow the conditional inversion determined for the write back bits during destructive read.

Abstract: A method for controlling a portable power system, comprising: using a processor, selecting an engine efficiency range for an engine of a generator set of the portable power system, the engine efficiency range corresponding to a power output range of the generator set and to a power demand range of a load coupled to the portable power system; while a power demand of the load is less than a power output of the generator set, storing excess energy from the generator set in a battery bank of the portable power system; while the power demand of the load is greater than the power output of the generator set, providing additional power to the load from the battery bank; when a first predetermined depth of discharge threshold is reached by the battery bank, increasing the power output of the generator set to allow the battery bank to recharge; and, when a predetermined state of charge threshold is reached by the battery bank, ceasing the power output of the generator set and providing power to the load from the batte
Abstract: Motor drives and control methods are presented for sensorless motor speed control in which inverter output currents are sampled from the inverter output, and a frequency modulation value is determined based on the current feedback and either one or more voltage commands or one or more voltage feedback signals. A speed or frequency setpoint is adjusted at least partially according to the frequency modulation value to provide an adjusted frequency or speed setpoint value that is then used in controlling the inverter to provide stability control to mitigate hunting or motor stoppage.

Abstract: A multimedia broadcasting system having a multiple-node structure includes nodes. Each node is coupled to at least one of the nodes, and the nodes include server nodes and multimedia-playing terminal nodes. Each server node is coupled to at least one of the server nodes and provides at least one multimedia content. Each multimedia-playing terminal node receives multimedia content transmitted by a server node of the server nodes and plays the multimedia content. A first server node of the server nodes is coupled to a second server node of the server nodes, and the first server node transmits, via the second server node, a first multimedia content to at least one multimedia-playing terminal node controlled by the second server node. Each multimedia-playing terminal node is a multimedia play terminal including at least one display device or audio playing device.
Abstract: A data storage device includes a non-volatile memory that includes a three-dimensional (3D) memory and circuitry associated with operation of memory cells of the 3D memory. The non-volatile memory includes a word line coupled to a plurality of storage elements. A method includes detecting a condition associated with a defect in the word line. A first subset of the plurality of storage elements and a second subset of the plurality of storage elements are determined based on an estimated location of the defect. The method further includes determining a first read threshold for the first subset and a second read threshold for the second subset.

Abstract: A data storage device (DSD) includes a power supply from a host and a charge storage element. A current transient is detected on the power supply from the host and it is determined whether the current transient exceeds a current threshold. When the current transient exceeds the current threshold, power is drawn from the charge storage element to reduce power drawn from the host.

Abstract: An apparatus to predict future behavior of devices in an industrial automation environment is provided. The apparatus includes a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium configured to store program instructions, and program instructions stored on the non-transitory computer-readable storage medium. The program instructions direct a processor within a stream-based processing system to receive a first raw data stream from a first manufacturing data source, and to analyze the first raw data stream with respect to behavior data corresponding to the first manufacturing data source. The program instructions also direct the processor to predict future behavior of one or more device associated with the first manufacturing data source, based on the analysis of the first raw data stream and the behavior data corresponding to the first manufacturing data source, and to perform an action based on the predicted future behavior of the one or more device.
Abstract: A data storage device includes a memory and a controller. Mapping circuitry is configured to apply a mapping to received data to generate mapped data to be stored into the memory. The mapping is configured to increase average reliability by reducing an average number of state changes of storage elements per write operation and to reduce average write time by reducing a number of operations for storing the mapped value into the storage elements.
Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to fixation plates for use in correcting Hallux Valgus deformities under the Lapidus approach. The plate includes holes defined therethrough in such a way to facilitate multiplanar stability across the metatarsocuneiform joint. The plate is further sized and shaped to approximate the natural anatomic contour of the bone segments surrounding the metatarsocuneiform joint. Related methods for using the Lapidus approach to correct Hallux Valgus deformities are also described.
Abstract: Nested neutral point clamped (NNPC) multilevel power converter stages and systems are presented, in which the converter stage includes an NPC inverter core circuit with a flying (switched) capacitor nesting circuit, with the switches of the NPC core and the switched capacitor circuit being gated using selected redundant switching states to control the voltage of the switched capacitors to achieve a multilevel output voltage having equally spaced voltage step values. Multiple inverter stages can meet cascaded or connected in various configurations to implement single or multiphase power conversion systems, and higher output voltages can be achieved by forming to converter stages into an H-bridge configuration, and connecting multiple H-bridge stages in series with one another.
