Abstract: Embodiments are provided for identifying transitory WiFi users and providing a differential treatment of such users in terms of delaying associating steps between user stations (STAs) and an access point (AP). A transitory user refers to a user or user device that connects to a WiFi AP but does not run applications that require association or assigning IP addresses, such as short-term or temporary connected WiFi users that are on the move. In an embodiment, a STA connects to an AP. Upon the STA indicating its transitory behavior to the AP or the AP detecting criteria of transitory behavior of the STA, the STA obtains a delay time value from the AP. The STA then delays sending an association request to the AP, or alternatively, the AP delays handling the association request from the STA in accordance with the delay time value.

Abstract: A lightweight radio/CD player for vehicular application is virtually “fastenerless” and includes a case and frontal interface formed of polymer based material that is molded to provide details to accept audio devices such as playback mechanisms (if desired) and radio receivers, as well as the circuit boards required for electrical control and display. The case and frontal interface are of composite structure, including an insert molded electrically conductive wire mesh screen that has been pre-formed to contour with the molding operation. The wire mesh provides EMC, RFI, BCI and ESD shielding and grounding of the circuit boards via exposed wire mesh pads and adjacent ground clips. The major components and subassemblies self-interconnect by integral guide and connection features effecting “slide lock” and “snap lock” self-interconnection. The major components and subassemblies self-ground by establishing an interference fit with exposed, resilient, embossed portions of wire mesh.

Abstract: According to certain non-limiting embodiments disclosed herein, the functionality of a server is extended with a mechanism for identifying connections with clients that have exhibited attack characteristics (for example, characteristics indicating a DoS attack), and for transitioning internal ownership of those connections such that server resources consumed by the connection are reduced, while keeping the connection open. The connection thus moves from a state of relatively high resource use to a state of relatively low server resource use, and the server is able to free resources such as memory and processing cycles previously allocated to the connection. In some cases, the server maintains the connection for at least some time and uses it to keep the client occupied so that it cannot launch—or has fewer resources to launch—further attacks, and possibly to gather information about the attacking client.

Abstract: The present invention provides a simple and rapid method for preparing purified transposase complexes that are highly suited for fragmenting DNA. The method includes forming transposase complexes with oligonucleotide adapters in cell lysate, then purifying the complexes from the other substance in the cell lysate. Purification is accomplished using a specific binding pair, in which one member of the pair is bound to an oligonucleotide adapter of the complex and the other member of the pair is bound to a solid substrate. The bound complexes can be immediately used in DNA fragmentation reactions to produce solid substrate-bound DNA fragments, which can be used for any number of purposes, including as templates for amplification and sequencing.

Abstract: A coherency controller with a data buffer store that is smaller than the volume of pending read data requests. Data buffers are allocated only for requests that match the ID of another pending request. Buffers are deallocated if all snoops receive responses, none of which contain data. Buffers containing clean data have their data discarded and are reallocated to later requests. The discarded data is later read from the target. When all buffers are full of dirty data requests with a pending order ID are shunted into request queues for later service. Dirty data may be foisted onto coherent agents to make buffers available for reallocation. Accordingly, the coherency controller can issue snoops and target requests for a volume of data that exceeds the number of buffers in the data store.

Abstract: A head-up display system having a diffusing image plane or diffuser. The light output of a relatively small image source is imaged on the diffuser by way of imaging optics. A mirror is used to image light from the diffuser onto a windshield and correct for distortion caused by the windshield. The diffuser is advantageously used when a large field-of-view is desired, or sun load characteristics need to be addressed. The diffuser may be flat or curved in order to optimize the system for different applications. The magnification of the mirror may be made relatively low, and the solar emergency density that is made incident on the image source is reduced, providing for a low cost, high performance, color head-up display system. A drive mechanism allows selective operator controlled repositioning of the image source and imaging optics with respect to diffuser to vary image size, position and/or intensity.

Abstract: A random estimation analog-to-digital converter for converting a first analog signal into a digital signal includes a random bit generator, a digital-to-analog converter, a summer, an M-bit analog-to-digital converter, and a digital combiner. The random bit generator generates random least significant bits (LSBs) and the digital-to-analog converter then converts the random LSBs into a second analog signal. The summer subtracts the second analog signal from the first analog signal in the analog domain. The M-bit analog-to-digital converter then converts the modified first analog signal into the most significant bits (MSBs) of the digital image signal. The digital combiner combines the random LSBs with the MSBs in the digital domain to generate the digital signal. In one example, the random LSBs are extra bits that are beyond the maximum resolution of the M-bit analog-to-digital converter.
