Abstract: A regulator comprises a regulator valve and an actuator. The actuator is coupled to the regulator valve and comprises a control element for controlling the flow of fluid through the regulator valve. The regulator valve is equipped with a self-aligning valve port that includes a retaining portion, a biased portion disposed within the retaining portion, and a biasing member disposed between the retaining portion and the biased portion. The self-aligning valve port advantageously automatically adjusts to achieve sealed engagement with the control element of the actuator, thereby improving regulator performance.

Abstract: A monolithic backside-sensor-illumination (BSI) image sensor has a sensor array is tiled with a multiple-pixel cells having a first pixel sensor primarily sensitive to red light, a second pixel sensor primarily sensitive to red and green light, and a third pixel sensor having panchromatic sensitivity, the pixel sensors laterally adjacent each other. The image sensor determines a red, a green, and a blue signal comprising by reading the red-sensitive pixel sensor of each multiple-pixel cell to determine the red signal, reading the sensor primarily sensitive to red and green light to determine a yellow signal and subtracting the red signal to determine a green signal. The image sensor reads the panchromatic-sensitive pixel sensor to determine a white signal and subtracts the yellow signal to provide the blue signal.

Abstract: A process for removing impurities from a crude vegetable oil. The process involves mixing the crude vegetable oil with removal reagents and pumping the mixture through a multi-stage, hydrodynamic cavitation device. The mixture is subjected to hydrodynamic cavitation processes, which result in the repeated generation and collapsing of vapor bubbles of volatile components in the process fluid, leading to the formation of an emulsion of vegetable oil and a water-phase from the process fluid into an emulsion. The water-phase contains the impurities. The vegetable oil and water-phase are then separated. Lecithin may be made from the phospholipids in the water-phase after appropriate drying processes.

  • Publication number: 20140086348
Abstract: The present invention relates to a communication method, system and signal, and in particular to a method and system for communicating information in a digital signal. It has particular application to satellite or terrestrial packet-based multi-user radio communication systems. A method for communicating information in a digital signal comprising data symbols is disclosed, wherein the information is encoded in a sequence characteristic of pilot symbols distributed amongst the data symbols, such that a receiver is able to determine the sequence characteristic and retrieve the transmitted information. The invention allows information to be encoded into a sequence characteristic of pilot symbols, rather than relying on modulating such information onto the pilot symbols themselves. This allows a significantly larger number of pieces of information to be transmitted than hitherto possible, and the technique is more resistant to large frequency errors than prior techniques.

Abstract: An improved apparatus for monitoring the intra-abdominal pressure of a hospitalized patient includes a urinary catheter connected to a urine valve having selectable communication positions between a discharge end of the urinary catheter and either a drain or a fluid source. Preferably, the urine valve has a housing adapted to resist patient discomfort from leg-valve contact. One operable protective housing may be embodied as a separate tray component. Plumbing structure desirably maintains fluid supply and drain conduits in a substantially parallel arrangement to assist routing those conduits between a patient's legs. When the urine valve is oriented for communication to the fluid source, an infusion pump may be used to introduce a known quantity of fluid through the urine valve and into the patient's bladder where the fluid's pressure can be measured.

Abstract: A first reticle set designed for manufacturing dies with a limited number of cores is modified into a second reticle set suitable for manufacturing at least some dies with at least twice as many cores. The first reticle set defines scribe lines to separate the originally defined dies. At least one scribe line is removed from pairs of adjacent but originally distinctly defined dies. Inter-core communication wires are defined to connect the adjacent cores, which are configured to enable the adjacent cores to communicate during operation without connecting to any physical input/output landing pads of the resulting more numerously cored die, which will not carry signals through the inter-core communication wires off the P-core die. The inter-core communication wires may be used for power management coordination purposes or to bypass the external processor bus.
