Each of the semiconductor substrate has a plurality of scribe-groove parts formed along scribe lines. Further, each of the semiconductor substrate has a plurality of device regions having a semiconductor device formed therein and insulated from each other, and a plurality of wiring electrodes connected to the semiconductor devices respectively formed in the plurality of device regions and extending from the device regions into the inside of the scribe-groove parts. The plurality of wiring electrodes are arranged in a partial arrangement pattern in which the wiring electrodes are arranged along only a part of four boundary sides, corresponding to boundaries between each of the device regions and the scribe-groove parts. Further, the plurality of wiring electrodes extend into the scribe-groove part from only one of two device regions adjacent to each other with the scribe-groove part therebetween.

Abstract: A plasmon generator configured to excite a surface plasmon based on light includes a first portion formed of a first metal material and a second portion formed of a second metal material different from the first metal material. The plasmon generator has a front end face. The front end face includes a near-field light generating part that generates near-field light based on the surface plasmon. The second portion includes an end face located in the front end face. The second metal material satisfies at least one of the following requirements: a lower ionization tendency than that of the first metal material; a lower electrical conductivity than that of the first metal material; and a higher Vickers hardness than that of the first metal material.
Abstract: An ignition coil assembly and a method of assembling the ignition coil assembly including a first spool, a first coil, and a second spool. The first coil is wound around a first spool outer surface. The first spool and the first coil are disposed within a cavity of the second spool and an electrically insulating material injected into an annular space defined between a first coil outer surface and a second spool inner surface. The first spool is configured to allow a decrease of a circumference of the first spool when the first coil is wound around an outer surface of the first spool. Decreasing the circumference of the first spool increases the annular space sufficient to inject the electrically insulating material into the annular space without creating substantial voids in the electrically insulating material.
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus for fabricating encapsulated devices, including electromechanical systems devices. In one aspect, a cover plate including one or more encapsulation lids releasably attached to a carrier substrate is provided. The one or more encapsulation lids can be joined to a device substrate to encapsulate one or more devices on the device substrate in a batch process. After joining, the encapsulation lids are released from the carrier substrate resulting in the formation of encapsulated devices on the device substrate. In another aspect, encapsulated devices are provided.
Abstract: A method for accessing to radio frequency communication with low-frequency electromagnetic communication includes the steps that a request side sends an activation request including first random data via a low frequency channel; a requested side receives the activation request, generates an activation response message including second random data and an identifier of the requested side, and sends the activation response message according to the first radio frequency communication address; and the request side receives and verifies the activation response message. If the verification is passed, then the request side generates a connection request, including third random data, and sends the connection request according to the second radio frequency communication address. The requested side receives and verifies the connection request.
Abstract: A portable articulated arm coordinate measurement machine is provided. An articulated arm is provided having a plurality of arm segments. Each arm segment includes an angular encoder for producing a signal corresponding to an angle of rotation. A shaft rotates which about an axis is attached to an inner portion of a first and second bearing. A patterned disk is attached to the shaft. A housing is attached to an outer portion of the first and second bearing. A read head is attached to the housing in proximity to the patterned disk which produces an electrical signal in response to an angle of rotation. The patterned disk and the first arm segment supported for rotation about the axis by only the first and second bearing. A circuit receives the electrical signal and provides an angle and data corresponding to a position of the probe.
Abstract: Embodiments are described for creating and closing tissue access ports, such as transapical access ports, which involve placement of an introducer across the subject tissue structure, and deployment of a controllable port closure device assembly configured to remain in place with a ratcheting mechanism, and to hold the tissue surrounding the previous access port location closed against a sealing disc with proximal and distal strut assemblies, after the introducer has been removed.

Abstract: A shared computing infrastructure has associated therewith a storage system, and a portal application through which portal users access the shared computing infrastructure and provision services. A method for file management in the infrastructure begins by associating, in a database, a portal user to one or more users of the storage system. Upon authentication of the portal user, authority to perform storage management operations with respect to at least one storage group is then automatically delegated from the portal user to the users of the storage system. A user of the storage system (who has received the delegated authority) is then provided a web-based user interface from within the portal application itself. In response to receipt of information from the user interface, and without requiring an additional credential to be entered by the user, at least one storage management operation is then performed from within the portal application.

Abstract: A medical treatment system and method of treatment is described having an implant that can be positioned and deployed, then undeployed to allow repositioning of the implant. The system includes a self-expanding medical implant that longitudinally foreshortens upon radially expanding from a radially compacted state, a distal interface configured to attach the implant to a distal mount of a delivery device, and a proximal interface configured to attach the implant to a proximal mount of the delivery device. Moving the distal mount longitudinally away from the proximal mount applies a longitudinal tension to the implant causing the implant to expand longitudinally and contract radially, and moving the distal mount toward the proximal mount reduces a longitudinal tension in the implant allowing the implant to expand radially toward a fully expanded state.
