  • Patent number: 11391002
Abstract: A track element of a non-contact bearing extending in a length direction. The track element includes a conductive material strip having a facing surface with a height and width and a rear surface opposite the facing surfaces. The conductive material strip includes a slit extending in a height direction to form a first leg and a second leg, in which the first leg is bent in a zig-zag shape and the second leg is bent in a zig-zag shape that is complementary to the bending of the first leg. When the conductive material strip is viewed in a direction parallel to the facing surface, the first leg and the second leg cross each other at least once.

  • Patent number: 11392497
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing rapid access to data sets used by serverless function executions. Rather than pre-loading an entire data set into an environment of a serverless function, which might incur large latencies, the environment is provided with a local access view of the data set, such as in the form of a read-only mount point. As blocks within the data set are requested, a local process can translate the requests into requests for corresponding network objects. The network objects are then retrieved, and the relevant portion of the object is made available to the environment. Network objects may be shared among multiple data sets, so a host device may include a cache enabling an object retrieved for a first environment to also be used to service requests from a second environment.

  • Patent number: 11394865
Abstract: Computing devices, such as mobile computing devices, have access to one or more image sensors that can capture images with multiple subjects. Some of these subjects may be known to the user capturing an image with the image sensor. The user may prefer to have the captured image data be optimized around the known subjects. Low-power, fast-response machine learning logic can be configured to allow for the generation of a plurality of inference data. This inference data can be utilized along with other sensor data, such as a motion sensor, for the generation of one or more image sensor configuration changes that may be implemented to optimize the subsequent capture of image data. This cycle of image data analysis, image sensor optimization, and subsequent capture can continue multiple times until a threshold of optimization or time is met. The captured image data optimized around the known subjects is then stored.

  • Patent number: 11393901
Abstract: An insulated gate turn-off (IGTO) device, formed as a die, has a layered structure including a p+ layer (e.g., a substrate), an n? epi layer, a p-well, trenched insulated gate regions formed in the p-well, and n+ regions between the gate regions, so that vertical NPN and PNP transistors are formed. The device may be formed of a matrix of cells or may be interdigitated. To turn the device on, a positive voltage is applied to the gate, referenced to the cathode. The cells further contain a vertical p-channel MOSFET, for rapidly turning the device off. The p-channel MOSFET may be made a depletion mode device by implanting boron ions at an angle into the trenches to create a p-channel. This allows the IGTO device to be turned off with a zero gate voltage while in a latch-up condition, when the device is acting like a thyristor.

  • Patent number: 11391385
Abstract: A valve operating apparatus with controls may include a speed control engageable by a hand of an operator of the apparatus to control a speed characteristic for operating the valve. The speed control may have a zero position corresponding to a zero speed of rotation of a shaft for connecting to the valve, with the speed control being movable out of the zero position to a nonzero position corresponding to a nonzero speed of rotation. A degree of movement of the speed control from the zero position may correspond to a speed of rotation of the shaft such that further movement of the control away from the zero position increases the speed of rotation. Movement of the speed control from the zero position may be characterized by the speed control maintaining the position of the speed control when engagement of the control by the hand of the operator is discontinued.

  • Patent number: 11393015
Abstract: Systems and methods are described for providing an item acquisition modeling service. An item acquisition modeling service may determine the expected amount of time required to acquire a set of items from a distribution center. The item acquisition modeling service may estimate travel times and acquisition times for individual items in the set, using a machine learning model that is trained on previous acquisitions of items, and may aggregate individual item estimates to generate a time estimate for the set of items. The item acquisition modeling service may generate and display user interfaces that indicate the elapsed time and remaining time relative to the estimated time, and may indicate whether items are being acquired more quickly or more slowly than the estimate. The item acquisition modeling service may further display target or goal acquisition times, and may indicate whether items are being acquired at a rate that achieves the goal.

  • Patent number: 11390381
Abstract: This disclosure is directed to an unmanned aerial vehicle (“UAV”) that transitions in-flight between vertical flight configuration and horizontal flight configuration by changing an orientation of the UAV by approximately ninety degrees. The UAV may include propulsion units that are coupled to a wing. The wing may include wing segments rotatably coupled together by pivots that rotate to position the propulsion units around a center of mass of the UAV when the fuselage is oriented perpendicular with the horizon. In this vertical flight configuration, the UAV may perform vertical flight or hover. During the vertical flight, the UAV may cause the wing to extend outward via the pivots such that the wing segments become positioned substantially parallel to one another and the wing resembles a conventional fixed wing. With the wing extended, the UAV assumes a horizontal flight configuration that provides upward lift generated from the wing.

  • Patent number: 11389113
Abstract: A mouth guard senses impact forces and determines if the forces exceed an impact threshold. If so, the mouth guard notifies the user of the risk for injury by haptic feedback, vibratory feedback, and/or audible feedback. The mouth guard system may also remotely communicate the status of risk and the potential injury. The mouth guard uses a local memory device to store impact thresholds based on personal biometric information obtained from the user and compares the sensed forces relative to those threshold values. The mouth guard and its electrical components on the printed circuit board are custom manufactured for the user such that the mouth guard provides a comfortable and reliable fit, while ensuring exceptional performance.
