    Abstract: A magnetic head includes a coil, a main pole, a write shield, and first and second yoke layers. The first and second yoke layers are magnetically connected to the write shield and aligned along the direction of travel of a recording medium such that the main pole is interposed therebetween. The coil includes a winding portion of planar spiral shape that is formed in one or more layers. The magnetic head further includes: a first coupling part located away from the medium facing surface and magnetically coupling the main pole and the second yoke layer to each other; and a second coupling part located away from the medium facing surface and magnetically coupling the first yoke layer and the second yoke layer to each other without touching the main pole. The winding portion is wound around the first coupling part, and a part of the winding portion passes between the first and second coupling parts.

    Abstract: In embodiments of the present invention an undoped amorphous, nanocrystalline or microcrystalline semiconductor layer and a heavily doped amorphous, nanocrystalline, or microcrystalline semiconductor layer are formed on a monocrystalline silicon lamina. The lamina is the base region of a photovoltaic cell, while the amorphous, nanocrystalline or monocrystalline layers serve to passivate the surface of the lamina, reducing recombination at this surface. In embodiments, the heavily doped layer additionally serves as either the emitter of the cell or to provide electrical contact to the base layer. The undoped and heavily doped layers are deposited at low temperature, for example about 150 degrees C. or less with hydrogen dilution. This low temperature allows use of low-temperature materials and methods, while increased hydrogen dilution improves film quality and/or conductivity.

Because the laser is an external cavity tunable laser and the configuration of the ASE swept sources, the power output can be low while the internal power at surfaces can be high leading to PIF at output powers much lower than the 50 mW.

The instructions specify what changes to make to a generic input file. This functionality extends the capability of the proxy server in an open-ended fashion and enables it to efficiently create a wide variety of outputs for a given generic input file. The generic input file and/or the instructions may be cached at the proxy. The teachings hereof have applications in, among other things, the delivery of web content, streaming media, and the like.

Direct storage holds data associated with a first portion of the registers and is coupled to an execution unit to provide the data thereto. Indirect storage holds data associated with a second portion of the registers and cannot directly provide the data to the execution unit. Which architectural registers are in the first and second portions varies dynamically based upon the current processor mode. If a specified register is currently in the first portion, the microprocessor loads data from memory into the direct storage, whereas if in the second portion, the microprocessor loads data from memory into the direct storage and then stores the data from the direct storage to the indirect storage.
