  • Patent number: 10260854
Abstract: Various downhole logging tools and methods of using and making the same are disclosed. In one aspect, a downhole logging tool for inspecting one or more well tubulars includes a housing adapted to be supported in the one or more well tubulars by a support cable. A first transmitter, a second transmitter and a third transmitter are positioned in longitudinally spaced-apart relation in the housing and are operable to generate magnetic fields. Driving circuitry is operatively coupled to the first transmitter, the second transmitter and the third transmitter to selectively fire the first transmitter, the second transmitter and the third transmitter in multiple transmission modes to generate magnetic fields to stimulate pulsed eddy currents in the one or more well tubulars. A first receiver is positioned in the housing to sense decaying magnetic fields created by the pulsed eddy currents.

  • Patent number: 10263460
Abstract: An uninterruptible power supply adapted to be connected between an AC line and a load a battery system for storing battery power, an inverter, a transformer, and a controller. The inverter is operatively connected to the battery system. The transformer comprises a primary winding adapted to be operatively connected to the AC line, a load winding adapted to be operatively connected to the load, and an inverter winding operatively connected to the inverter. The controller controls the inverter to operate in a first mode in which the inverter supplies power to the battery system, a second mode in which the inverter supplies power to the load winding using battery power stored in the battery system, and, based on a cost value indicative of reduction of life of the battery system, a third mode in which the inverter supplies power to the primary winding using battery power stored in the battery system.

  • Patent number: 10140862
Abstract: Computer-implemented predictions of upcoming traffic control signal states or state changes can be used to improve driver convenience, safety, and fuel economy. Such information can be used advantageously by a human operator, or by an autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle control system. Predictions can be computed with suitable machines installed in a vehicle, in cooperation with a remote back-end server system. The prediction computations in the vehicle may be supported by data communicated to the vehicle computing machinery over various wireless communications, including telecom systems, DSRC, etc.

  • Patent number: 10121389
Abstract: In some embodiments, a scheme engine selects a progressive support scheme that promotes wellness by encouraging users to responsibly respond to a health condition. The scheme includes a set of nodes. Each node represents a progression of the health condition being experienced by a user. A node of the set of nodes is associated with a set of tasks, each promoting wellness given a presence of the condition. A progression tracker identifies, for the user, the node as corresponding to a current progression of the condition. A task engine assigns a weight to a task characteristic based on an input received from the user and selects a task from amongst the set of tasks associated with the identified node. The selection of the task is based on the weight assigned to the task characteristic. The task engine further presents the task to the user.

  • Publication number: 20180286223
Abstract: Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed for connecting traffic signal control infrastructure, in-service transit vehicles, and back-end computing and service systems, and providing an adaptable user interface, remotely effecting a change on a Portable Electronic Device (PED), verifying location of transit vehicles and tailoring information to the behavior of a transit operator. System determines an “optimal window” for a transit vehicle to travel through a maximum number of consecutive traffic signals during the green vehicular phase. The system determines and sends a recommended speed to traverse the optimal window. In a case where an optimal window is not possible under current circumstances, the system determines and then advises the driver to remain at the current station for a specified dwell time.

Abstract: Various downhole logging tools and methods of using and making the same are disclosed. In one aspect, a downhole logging tool for inspecting a well casing is provided that includes a housing adapted to be supported in the well casing by a support cable. A transmitter is positioned in the housing and operable to generate a magnetic field. Plural receivers are positioned in the housing in circumferentially-spaced apart relation and are operable to sense the magnetic field with azimuthal sensitivity. Electronic circuitry is operatively coupled to the receivers to determine a parameter of the sensed magnetic field and determine a characteristic of the well casing based on the parameter.

  • Patent number: 10087740
Abstract: A tool for evaluating the internal surfaces of tubular is provided, wherein one or more arms extend outwardly from the tool into contact with an inner wall of the tubular, and changes in the dimensions or condition of the inner wall result in changes in the position of the ends of the arms relative to the tool. This motion is converted, through an electromagnetic transducer, into an electrical signal, the amplitude of which falls is maintained as the temperature of the tool changes. In one aspect, the transducer includes a coil and a moveable metal or magnetic element. The coil is powered by a constant current source, and variations in the resistance of the electrical components of the transducer resultingly do not cause fall off of the output signal amplitude.

  • Publication number: 20160298396
Abstract: A constant force device has at least a first non-constant axial force driving the first set of arms and a second non-constant axial force driving the second set of arms, where the two sets of arms are offset from one another by 90°. Each of the non-constant axial forces is converted to a radially extending force by the interaction of a force guide and actuator. The force guide is attached to the inner mandrel of the constant force device and is shaped to produce an essentially constant radially extending force through the entire range of motion of the arms. Typically each arm of the pair of arms has a pivoting arm and a telescoping arm where the joint between the pivoting arm and telescoping arm has one or more wheels to reduce friction as the constant force device moves through the tubular. Generally the first pair of arms is opposed to and overlaps by some distance the second pair of arms where the second pair of arms is 90° offset from the first pair of arms.
