Abstract: Methods and systems for transmitting user part messages between signaling system seven (SS7) signaling points over an internet protocol (IP) network include receiving, at a signal transfer point, a first SS7 user part message. The first SS7 user part message can be received from a first SS7 signaling point, such as a service switching point (SSP). The first SS7 signaling point is encapsulated in a first IP packet. The first IP packet is transmitted to a second SS7 signaling point over an IP network.

Abstract: A multiple point code routing node is configured to recognize multiple point codes as true point codes. The multiple point code routing node originates, terminates, and processes messages having any of its any of its true point codes. As a result, the multiple point code routing node can replace two or more signal transfer points in a conventional telecommunications network without requiring reconfiguration of other nodes in the telecommunications network. Multiple point code routing node may also recognize multiple adjacent point codes or secondary adjacent point codes of a mated multiple point code routing node. Because the multiple point code routing node can associate multiple point codes with its mate, the number of logical or physical signaling links between adjacent multiple point code routing nodes can be increased.

Abstract: Database-driven methods and systems for database driven real time call tracing are disclosed. Signaling messages are copied from signaling link interface modules. The copied messages are sent to a database. A server located remotely from the database sends a query to the database for a real time call trace. The database is searched for messages that match the search criteria. If no messages are located in the historical data stored in the database, data entering the database is analyzed in real time.

Abstract: An end office support (EOS) routing node implements MTP layers 1-3 on behalf of one or more remote applications that share the true point code of the EOS routing node. Implementing MTP layers 1-3 includes receiving messages addressed to the true point code, determining whether the messages are contain application level information of interest to a remote application, and forwarding the application level information to the remote application. Messages may be routed internally within the EOS routing node using an internal point code used to uniquely identify the remote application within the EOS routing node. The EOS routing node may also perform network management functions on behalf of one or more remote applications.

Abstract: Method and systems for improving utilization of high-speed time division multiplexed communications links at a signal transfer point are disclosed. A multi-port link interface module terminates two or more high-speed TDM links and generates internal data. Data received on one high-speed communications link is combined with the internal data used to fill outbound timeslots in an outgoing high-speed link. The data may include signaling data, bearer data, or signaling and bearer data.

Abstract: A prepaid SMS screening, accounting, and routing node performs prepaid SMS screening and accounting functions. When the prepaid SMS screening, accounting, and routing node receives an SMS message, it determines whether the originating subscriber is a ported subscriber attempting to access an SMSC from the donor network. If the originating subscriber is a ported subscriber attempting to access a donor network SMSC, the SMS message may be discarded. If the originating subscriber is not a ported subscriber, the prepaid SMS screening, accounting, and routing node determines whether the subscriber is a prepaid subscriber. If the subscriber is a prepaid subscriber, the prepaid SMS screening, routing, and accounting node determines whether the subscriber has sufficient credit to send the SMS message. If the subscriber has sufficient credit to send the message, the prepaid SMS screening, accounting, and routing node debits its accounting database and forwards the message to its intended destination.

Abstract: A wireless communication network monitoring system for use in performing a user specified trace of signaling messages associated with a mobile call is disclosed. A central processing platform creates and distributes signaling message filter criteria information to a plurality of link monitoring modules (LMM). The filter criteria are asserted at a LMM and a matching signaling message is copied and subsequently transmitted to the central processing platform. Central processing platform receives the matching signaling message and uses information contained therein to create and distribute a second signaling message filter criteria. In such a manner, a call trace sequence is compiled and displayed. A billing subsystem is also disclosed and is adapted to generate a billing record based on information contained with one or more of the messages associated with the call trace sequence.

Abstract: A system for collecting and processing SS7 message signaling units (MSUs) includes a network interface for copying MSUs from an SS7 signaling link or a TCP/IP signaling link. A call detail record generator communicates with the link interface to receive the copied MSUs and parse the MSUs to extract desired parameters from the MSUs. An application interface kit received commands from an application to control the flow of MSU parameters to the application in real time.

Abstract: Seamless transport of messages is provided between SS7 network elements and Internet Protocol (IP) network elements using an STP as an intermediary. Thus, messages may be routed between a first SP and a second SP via an STP using IP. Messages may be routed between an SP and an IP node via an STP using IP. Messages also may be routed between a first IP node and a second IP node via an STP using IP. Thus, the STP can be used as a vehicle for message transport among nodes of an SS7 network, among nodes of an IP network and between SS7 and IP networks. SS7 messages are bidirectionally communicated between an STP and at least one other SP of an SS7 network using IP, preferably TCP/IP. Preferably, SS7 messages are bidirectionally communicated between an STP and at least one SCP using IP.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for signal mediation in a common channel signaling network are described. The method involves identifying candidate message signal units that require mediation and transmitting the candidate signal unit to an associated mediation function which performs access mediation on the contents of the candidate signal unit. The access mediation function may return one or more data packets to the network. The apparatus includes the signal transfer point, the associated mediation function and enhanced functionality in the signal transfer point for screening candidate signal units. The advantage is a more flexible and easily managed signal mediation point that removes the bulk of signal mediation from the signal transfer point so that the signal transfer point can remain dedicated to its signal transfer function.

Abstract: An atomic beam resonator, particularly a cesium beam resonator, suitable for producing an extremely stable reference frequency. The resonator comprises, arranged in series in the beam direction, a source (1) of the atomic jet (2), a first state selector (3), an interrogating region (4) with a Ramsey-type cavity resonator having two arms (17, 18), a second state selector (5) an atom detector (6) for producing the useful output signal of the resonator, and a device for injecting an interrogation signal into the cavity resonator to generate a microwave interrogation field in each arm of said cavity. Said interrogating region (4) is surrounded by a magnetic shield (10). The resonator is characterized in that the device for injecting microwave energy (25) into the the cavity resonator is a coupling device which forms an odd number of modes in the cavity so that both interrogating regions are of opposite phase and the resonator response is at its lowest at the resonant frequency.
