Publication number: 20110140946Abstract: A data converter system provides an output signal having reduced spurious tones by confining an input signal to a specified frequency band and over-sampling so that the converted input signal “straddles” or “avoids” spurious tones. The spurious tones may then be filtered away, providing an output signal having a much cleaner spurious free dynamic range than a conventional data converter. For example, in one embodiment, an interleaved data converter system converts an input signal that is confined to the second Nyquist zone of one of the interleaved data converters into an interleaved signal, and then filters the interleaved signal with a filter having a pass-band that transmits the converted input frequencies and a stop-band that attenuates the spurious tones. The resulting output signal has a bandwidth that is the same as could be achieved using a single data converter, but is not impaired by interleave images or certain distortion products.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 14, 2009Publication date: June 16, 2011Applicant: TEKTRONIX, INC.Inventor: ROGER D. Publication number: 20110141924Abstract: A system and method for monitoring IP flows in a telecommunications network is disclosed. Data packets are captured from the links in the telecommunications network via a plurality of monitoring probes. The data packets are filtered, using an interface processor, to classify the data packets by subscriber identification and link identification to create classified packets. The classified packets are filtered by application, using a packet processor, to create call session records. A subscriber record is created, using a subscriber session processor, the subscriber record binding subscriber information from the call session records, the subscriber record comprising a plurality of fields including a high value tag. One or more of the network nodes are controlled using a configuration manager according to policy rules that correspond to the high value tag.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2009Publication date: June 16, 2011Applicant: Tektronix Inc.Inventors: Robert W. Publication number: 20110137594Abstract: A waveform display apparatus and method displays one or more waveforms of a signal under test at high throughput while acquiring digital data of the signal under test in a large acquisition memory. A user sets a time interval of user's interest when viewing a signal under test and sets trigger criteria through a user interface. An ADC converts the signal under test into digital data that is stored in a large acquisition memory. A trigger unit detects and produces trigger events, based on a trigger, as trigger event information during one acquisition process. A trigger event eliminator may discard some of the trigger events based on pre-trigger and post-conditions set through the interface by a user. The trigger events are recorded in a trigger list as the trigger event information. A control unit locates the digital data in the acquisition memory corresponding to the trigger events in the trigger list and displays a waveform associated with the trigger event for the time interval on a display device.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2009Publication date: June 9, 2011Applicant: TEKTRONIX, INC.Inventors: Steven K. Patent number: 7945407Abstract: Sets of time domain data of respective frequency bands from Fd-1 to Fd-n of a periodic input signal Fs are acquired. Sets of the time domain data of the common frequency band are extracted from the sets of the time domain data of the frequency bands Fd-1 and Fd-2 in the acquired frequency bands. Correlativity between the sets of the time domain data of the common frequency band is determined while shifting time relationship between the sets each other to identify the sets of time domain data having correspondence relationship. The sets of the time domain data having the correspondence relationship in the time domain data of the adjacent frequency band Fd-1 and Fd-2 are converted to the sets of the frequency domain data respectively, and the sets of the frequency domain data are combined to produce one set of combined frequency domain data.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 2007Date of Patent: May 17, 2011Assignee: Tektronix, IncInventors: Miyake Kenichi, Hiroyuki Yamagaki, Kuniharu Hori

Publication number: 20110103451Abstract: A digitizing instrument is used for modifying pattern data and jitter and noise components of a communication signal. In a typical implementation, the midpoints of a rising edge slope and horizontal portion of the communication signal are determined and multiple digital data records are acquired at the midpoints. The data sample records are transformed to frequency components and the random jitter and noise, and periodic jitter and noise components are determined. A correlated pattern data and the jitter and noise components are matrix elements in a simulated signal channel having communication system elements. Each correlated pattern data and jitter and noise component may be modified for each of the communication system element. The selectively modified correlated pattern data and jitter and noise components are combined to produce a modified communication signal that is displayed as a numeric table, eye diagram or bit error rate presentation.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2009Publication date: May 5, 2011Applicant: TEKTRONIX, INC.Inventors: Maria Agoston, Ronald M. Publication number: 20110096173Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for non-invasive, “in-service” AV delay detection and correction. These systems and methods do not modify the audio signal or the video signal, nor do they rely on any metadata to be carried with the audio signal or the video signal via the distribution path. Instead, agents located at various points along the distribution path generate very small signature curves for the audio signal and the video signal and distribute them to a manager via a separate data path other than the distribution path. The manager calculates a measured AV delay caused by the distribution path based on these signature curves, and then optionally corrects the measured AV delay by adjusting an in-line delay in the distribution path.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 28, 2010Publication date: April 28, 2011Applicant: TEKTRONIX, INCInventor: DANIEL G. Patent number: 7920758Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided to measure spatial distortion. Measure and remove borders; and rescale the active test image, the active reference image, or both, such that they are the same size. A representative line is obtained, or selected, from each image providing a reference representative line (ReferenceRL) and a test representative line (TestRL). A local Pearson' cross-correlation coefficient (LPCCC) image is created from both the ReferenceRL and the TestRL at different horizontal shifts. The highest average intensity line across the LPCCC image is found as the coordinates of the corresponding Hough Transform image pixel with maximum intensity is determined. The Hough Transform Theta and R are converted to spatial scale and offset. The crude and refined offsets and scale values are combined to produce total horizontal and vertical scale offset values. These spatial measurements can then be provided.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2007Date of Patent: April 5, 2011Assignee: Tektronix, Inc.Inventor: Kevin M. Ferguson

Publication number: 20110074389Abstract: A signal acquisition system has a signal acquisition probe having probe tip circuitry coupled to a resistive center conductor signal cable with the signal cable coupled to a signal processing instrument via an input node. The input node is coupled to an input current amplifier via input circuitry. The input circuitry provides at least one of resistive and capacitive termination of the resistive center conductor signal cable. The termination of the resistive center conductor signal cable in the signal processing instrument provides a signal acquisition system where the capacitive loading of a device under test at higher frequencies is reduced by reducing the input capacitance of the probe tip circuitry resulting in an increase in the signal acquisition system bandwidth.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 29, 2010Publication date: March 31, 2011Applicant: TEKTRONIX, INC.Inventors: Daniel G.
