  • Patent number: 7187933
Abstract: A method for assigning a channel in multi-FA CDMA mobile communication system according to the received power prevents communication quality of a FA from being inferior to that of the others by managing the interference level of the FA. The method comprises the steps of: comparing a first threshold value with received power when the base station receives a new call request; assigning a traffic channel in a first FA of the request, if the received power is less than the first threshold value, and searching a second FA of which received power is least, if not; comparing a second threshold value with the received power of the second FA; and assigning a traffic channel in the second FA if the received power is less than the second threshold value, and rejecting the request, if not.

  • Publication number: 20070049267
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software are described for benchmarking the location determination capabilities of a wireless communications network. A mobile communications device is configured to receive data identifying a reference location for the device. A communications network, communicatively coupled with the mobile communications device, calculates a computed location for the device using an alternative location determination technique. The reference location and computed location may be determined for any number of additional devices, as well. The accuracy and reliability of a system may then be assessed by comparing one or more computed locations with associated reference locations. The latency attributable to the calculation of one or more computed locations may also be determined.

  • Patent number: 7184711
Abstract: The invention provides a portable and autonomous assistance device to derive information on faults in a private telecommunication installation comprising particularly equipment units to assist the client owning the installation in maintaining the latter. A maintenance session is selected in a maintenance server of the service provider managing the installation as a function of information transmitted by the assistance device so as to provide instructions in the device. The address of the server and an identifier of the equipment unit are rapidly read by means of a bar code reader which can also read bar codes in a user manual. The assistance device also serves to configure a terminal (TE) by means of a configuration session opened in a server (SFT) of the terminal manufacturer.

  • Patent number: 7184547
Abstract: Authentication and signature process with reduced number of calculations. The process involves a first entity called the “prover”, which possesses a public key v and a secret key s, these keys verify the relation v=s?t (mod n), where n is an integer called modulus and t is a parameter, and a second entity called a “verifier”, which knows the public key v. This process implies exchange of information following a “zero-knowledge protocol” between the verifier and the prover and cryptographic calculations on this information, some calculations being carried out “modulo n”. The process of the invention is characterised by the fact that the modulus n is specific to the prover that communicates this modulus to the verifier.

  • Patent number: 7181139
Abstract: An optical switching apparatus in an optical communication network selectively combines and separates, using OTDM and/or WDM, optical signal samples that are obtained by a spread spectrum technique or a combination of optical signal samples that are obtained by a spread spectrum technique and optical signal samples that are carried over discrete channel wavelengths. In upstream communication, when optical signal samples that are received at the optical switching apparatus include upstream optical signal samples that are obtained by a spread spectrum technique, the optical switching apparatus optically converts the optical signal samples provided thereto into a broadband combined series of upstream optical signal samples and routes the broadband combined series of upstream optical signal samples to a destination route.

  • Patent number: 7180956
Abstract: A novel method and apparatus for applying overlaid perturbation vectors for gradient feedback transmit antenna array adaptation is disclosed. The method and apparatus of the present invention allows a communication system to reduce transmit power that is associated with dedicated pilot signals by overlaying perturbation vectors and measuring channel estimates and demodulation channel estimates during a measurement time interval that comprises a plurality of feedback time intervals. The present inventive method utilizes channel estimates that include the effects of previous perturbation vectors, subsequent feedback vectors and intermediate feedback decisions. The inventive method extracts a coarse gradient estimate by utilizing a continuous summation of overlaid weight vector perturbation vectors and updates the weighting vector accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20070035358
Abstract: A planar filter has a planar resonator including a conductive region having smoothed contours and supporting a first resonating mode propagating along a first conductive path and a second resonating mode propagating along a second conductive path perpendicular to the first conductive path. The planar filter also has a conductor-free region made in the conductive region and having smoothed contours. The conductor-free region is disposed along a region axis forming an angle with respect to the first conductive path. The conductor-free region causes a perturbation of the symmetry of the planar resonator resulting in a frequency shift of the first and second resonating mode and their mutual coupling.

  • Publication number: 20070033206
Abstract: A method which makes it possible to select a predefined maximum number N of documents from a set of electronic documents. A graph G is constructed on the basis of the set of electronic documents, each vertex of the graph G corresponding to one of the documents of said set and each edge between two vertices of the graph indicating the presence of at least one hypertext link between the two documents, corresponding to the two vertices considered. The method uses the topological properties of this graph to select a subset of N documents. A minor MG of the graph G is generated comprising a predefined maximum number N of vertices by deletion of at least one vertex of the graph G, this deletion being aimed at minimizing for the predefined number N of vertices a predefined distance between the graph G and the minor MG, this distance measuring the perturbation of the neighborhood of the vertices of the graph G that is engendered by the generation of the minor MG.
