Abstract: In a method for providing a video data streaming service, a server determines whether an occupancy is below a first threshold or is equal to or greater than a second threshold, the occupancy representing the amount of data occupying a queuing buffer of a terminal and the first threshold being less than the second threshold. If the occupancy is not below the first threshold, the server provides the data streaming service at a predetermined service bit rate which is less than the current service bit rate. If the occupancy is equal to or greater than a second threshold, the server provides the data streaming service at a predetermined service bit rate which is greater than the current service bit rate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for the dynamic multiplexing of digital streams which are transmitted in the form of stream units in one channel, each of said stream units bearing a stream identifier which can be used to associate same with the corresponding digital stream. The allocation of an identifier to a digital stream is defined by an allocation table and can vary over time, in such a way as to enable dynamic multiplexing. The aforementioned allocation table bears a version number and, in order to indicate that a change in the version of the allocation table applies to a given digital stream, a burst is transmitted with at least one version change stream unit comprising the current identifier of said digital stream, an indicator which can be used to determine if the stream unit is a version change stream unit and the version number becoming applicable to said digital stream.

The antenna includes an antenna that is omnidirectional about a given axis z. The omnidirectional antenna comprises at least one biconical antenna and the configurable antenna further comprises controllable reflectivity discrete reflector elements passing through the cones of the omnidirectional antenna without electrical contact and disposed on at least one circle centered on the given axis z. Abstract: A method and a generator are described for high speed generation of an S-bit long pattern of a PRBS sequence to be periodically burst on to a bus of width S. The technique provides the calculation time being independent from the width S of the bus, and comprises calculation of all S bits of the PRBS pattern separately and in parallel by using previous PRBS patterns stored in a memory. Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product for managing database servers and services is disclosed, which expands the capabilities of existing systems by providing better scalability and security. A database management system includes databases consisting of database clients and servers that handle the storing of information, a multi-database client that manages database servers, service modules which allow other systems to access the database servers, and a database access manager that manages requests from the service modules. A database access manager facilitates and coordinates interaction between the service modules and the multi-database client. Service modules provide interfaces from which other external or internal systems can access the managed databases. Requests can be sent between systems and the database access manager via the service modules. Two present and representative implementations of service modules are: user management and call detail record (CDR) collection.

Abstract: The method permits the animation of a synthesised model of a human face in relation to an audio signal. The method is not language dependent and provides a very natural animated synthetic model, being based on the simultaneous analysis of voice and facial movements, tracked on real speakers, and on the extraction of suitable visemes. The subsequent animation consists in transforming the sequence of visemes corresponding to the phonemes of the driving text into the sequence of movements applied to the model of the human face.

Abstract: In real time communication, long interruption of a media data signal caused by underflow or overflow of a buffer is reduced. A monitoring unit 35a monitors a state of the buffer 34 periodically. When the number of encoded data in the buffer 34 shows tendency of increasing from a standard data storage number, successively a predetermined number of times, then, it is judged that the buffer tends to overflow. And, the decoding unit 35 is made to skip at least one encoded data to be read and processed this time from the buffer 34. Further, when the number of encoded data in the buffer 34 shows tendency of decreasing from the mentioned standard data storage number, successively the predetermined number of times, then, it is judged that the buffer tends to underflow. And, the processing unit 35 is made to suspend operation during at least one period of the above-mentioned reproduction period.

Abstract: The image-based container defects detector consists of a plurality of camera units, a sensor unit, a frame grabber, and an image recognizer unit. The sensor unit serves to detect the vehicles entering the inspection station, and transmit a signal to the frame grabber for capturing the vehicle image by triggering the CCD camera thereby obtaining the information about the container's defect position and size. By dexterously utilizing image processing technique, the HIS (hue, saturation and intensity) color is employed to distinguish a normal area from a defected area in the container. Then quad-tree and merge is used to segregate image roughly. As for the non-defected area becoming obscured due to noise is removed using a filter. Finally the defected area is displayed on the screen. The present invention is well-suited for after detection as well as for on-line immediate detection for defect containers.
