  • Patent number: 11543819
Abstract: In one embodiment, a remote controller for a vehicle includes at least one control element for controlling operation of at least one aspect of the vehicle when the vehicle is in a remote-control mode; an actuator connected the at least one control element for controlling a position of the at least one control element when the vehicle is in an autonomous operations mode; and a processing system for receiving a first control signal from the vehicle indicative of a state of operation of the vehicle. In operation, the processing system generates a second control signal to the actuator to cause the actuator to control a position of the control element such that it corresponds to and indicates the state of operation of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20220412481
Abstract: A method and system for controlling a fluid valve are described that avoid the effects of hysteresis. In hysteresis, the power signals associated with a valve position are different on the upstroke and downstroke. As a result, predicting the valve position can be difficult if you only know the current power signal. Instead of using upstrokes and downstrokes, a valve can momentarily be set to zero power, or a rest position when receiving a new command signal. This way the command signal is applied from a zero power or rest position, making the valve position more predictable and accurate.

  • Publication number: 20220411050
Abstract: Tail rotor control system is described for helicopters. A pedal position sensor operable by a pilot yields greater tail rotor RPM relative to the main rotor RPM, giving the pilot increased control over the vehicle. This proves especially useful in certain situations, such as high altitude, where increasing tail rotor speed from main rotor speed can give a pilot increased maneuverability and stability.

  • Publication number: 20220411070
Abstract: A safety system for aircraft passenger seats is described. A pallet that can be removably coupled to seats can also be removably coupled to the aircraft floor and one or more brackets, tension fittings, or machined straps that can be coupled to structural beams or components in an aircraft. A keel tension fitting can be attached to a keel beam and then be coupled to the pallet and thereby the seats. By attaching to the keel beam the safety system allows the seating arrangement (pallet and seats) to withstand greater stresses and forces, resulting in increased safety.

  • Patent number: 11536523
Abstract: A feed tray assembly for a belt-fed weapon includes a bottom tray portion configured for mounting at a top of the weapon. The feed tray assembly further includes a feed tray cover mounted to the bottom tray portion and configured for lateral sliding opening and closing movement, such as on laterally extending pins riding in corresponding channels of the bottom tray portion. The feed tray cover has (1) a closed position in which it covers the bottom tray portion to retain the belt of ammunition during operation, and (2) an open position laterally displaced from the closed position to enable insertion of the belt of ammunition. Due to this lateral sliding movement of the feed tray cover, a sighting optic may be mounted on the weapon with a forward portion directly above the feed tray assembly without any undesired mechanical interference.

  • Patent number: 11524766
Abstract: An unmanned rotorcraft includes an airframe, rotor blades that are coupled to the airframe for rotation therewith, a propulsion unit having a propeller, and an actuator that is coupled to the airframe and adapted to temporarily reorient the propulsion unit such that an axis of the propeller moves out of alignment with an axis of the rotor blades. Rotation of the propeller causes counter-rotation of the airframe and rotor blades. The rotor blades and blades of the propeller are adapted to deploy from collapsed positions when flight of the rotorcraft is initiated. A method of operation by the rotorcraft includes, when it is determined that a current heading does not correspond to a determined flight path, causing the actuator to temporarily reorient the propulsion unit in accordance with an angular orientation of the actuator relative to the current heading.
