Abstract: Aqueous cleaner compositions containing an alkali metal halogenite, for example, NaClO.sub.2 ; a stabilizable colorant; and a stabilizing amount of a stabilizer compound which is an ammonium hydroxide. The preferred embodiment further includes an anionic or anionic fluorocarbon surfactant.

Abstract: A phase stable alkali metal hypochlorite composition including a tertiary alcohol of from 4 to 8 carbons and a surfactant or surfactant blend. Said surfactant or surfactant blend preferably is selected to impart to the composition a viscosity of about 10 to about 150 cps.

Abstract: Treatment of water-containing reservoirs with a cleaning composition including a water-dissipatable polyester polymer, the polyester polymer concentration in the reservoir being in an amount effective to capture heavy metal ions, thereby inhibiting staining. In a preferred embodiment, the polyester complexes a perfume, the perfume being released in dilute solution as in the reservoir, whereby a fragrance bloom is provided to the environment.

Abstract: A vertically standing display package having a single vertical display panel for receiving, on one side thereof, a preformed blister pack structure having integrally formed therein a cup-shaped product enclosure and a support. The blister pack structure is in the form of a U-shaped planar base having two parallel, equal length legs extending downwardly on each side of the product enclosure. The support portion of the blister pack structure bridges the two legs and has a three-sided bottom edge coplanar with the ends of the legs. All surfaces of the display package are either parallel to its base plane or at a positive draft angle relative thereto in order to enable intimate stacking of a plurality of display packages and automatic feeding during manufacture.

Abstract: An acid cleaner composition to remove deposits capable of reacting with the acid and also forming thereby hydrogen sulfide, comprising from about 5 to 95% by weight of an acid having an ionization constant of at least about 1.75.times.10.sup.-5, and an effective amount of a hydrogen sulfide scavenger agent providing a cation reactive with hydrogen sulfide to form a water-insoluble sulfide, whereby a substantial portion of the hydrogen sulfide is converted to said insoluble sulfide. The cations include Cu.sup.+2, Pb.sup.+2, Cd.sup.+2, Sb.sup.+3, and Sn.sup.+4, while typical acids are sulfuric, sulfamic, and oxalic. Preferred ranges, for a drain cleaner composition, are from about 40 to about 95% acid by weight, and from 2 to about 10% scavenger agent by weight. The compositions may be in solid form, or as an aqueous solution, containing preferably from 2 to 80% water. Corrosion inhibitors and carbon dioxide generating agents may be included.

Abstract: A spray head containing a gear pump for drawing liquid from a container and forcing same out of a nozzle. The gear pump comprises a pair of operatively engaged gears each rotatable about horizontal axes transverse to the axis of the nozzle. A ratchet wheel is axially secured to one of the gears and the ratchet and its gear are intermittently rotated about their common axis by a pawl member which is attached to a manually operable trigger which moves in a plane within the plane of the gears.

Abstract: A toilet tank dispenser for passively isolating the chemical solution in the dispenser from the tank during quiescent periods. The dispenser also provides means for releasing a chemical solution into the water in the tank at a release rate which may be easily varied. The isolation and release rate are achieved and controlled by a porous member inserted in the water flow path of the dispenser.

Abstract: A bristle broom is provided with a plurality of relatively flexible, soft bristles the ends of which form the majority of the broom's sweeping surface, and a smaller number of relatively inflexible, stiff bristles the ends of which form a small portion of the sweeping surface adjacent one end thereof. The stiff bristles improve the broom's sweeping efficiency in corners and edges or in removing stubborn dirt while the remainder of the bristles retain the conventional sweeping efficiency of flat bristle brooms.

Abstract: An aqueous-based gel air-treating composition comprising a gel base including a gel-forming agent and a gaseous component in an amount effective to provide a bulk density of said composition of from about 0.5 to about 0.9 g/cc, the gaseous component being present in within the composition as substantially homogeneously dispersed bubbles having a diameter of less than about 3000 microns, the composition being obtained by preparing said gel base, introducing the gaseous component into said gel base with sufficient mixing energy to obtain a foamed gel, and allowing the foamed gel to cool below its glass transition temperature.

Abstract: A butterfly-type sponge mop with presser plates and an actuating member pivotal relative to a center block. The mop includes a top center block which when interlocked with a bottom center block forms a plurality of bearing surfaces to enable motion of the presser plates about a transverse axis and motion of the actuating member about a longitudinal axis. The mop utilizes a generally loop-shaped actuating member to facilitate assembly without compression of the actuating member. The actuating member is connected to a connecting link which is actuated by a slide handle. A novel connecting means is utilized to enable a predetermined amount of rotation between the actuating member and the connecting link without the need for additional parts to retain same together.

Abstract: The dispenser of the present invention is adapted for placement in a body of liquid, a solution being contained in a vented product chamber of the dispenser, a predetermined volume of said solution being discharged into the body of liquid in response to a lowering of the level of the body of liquid from a first elevation to a second elevation and through a discharge means establishing fluid communication between said product chamber and the body of liquid. In accordance with the present invention, the vent means for the product chamber comprises an inverted U-shaped conduit extending upwardly above the top of the product chamber and hydraulic means adapted to delay the onset of discharge of solution from the product chamber to the body of liquid.

Abstract: Thickened hydrochloric acid containing cleaning compositions also including a quaternary ammonium compound are disclosed, said compositions further including a phase stabilizing surfactant selected from the group of alkyl betaines, alkoxylated tertiary amines, ethoxylated alkylphenols, and phosphate esters of amine oxides.

Abstract: An air freshener dispenser of the type containing in a reservoir a liquid fragrance composition comprising a necked container, a wick provided in the neck, an emanator pad holder retaining within a containment enclosure an absorbent or emanator pad in contact with the wick, and a cover member including at least one fragrance-diffusion aperture, the emanator pad holder including means defining at least one fragrance diffusion channel, the emanator pad being detachably rotatable within the cover member, whereby rotation of the cover member brings the diffusion aperture and the diffusion channel into registry.

Abstract: A furniture polish composition characterized by an internal aqueous phase and an external oil phase, the composition containing an ethoxylated montan acid wax in an amount of from 0.5 to 5% by weight, which constituent functions both as an emulsifier and as the wax. Also included in the composition is from 10 to 50% hydrocarbon solvent; from 0 to 15% polysiloxane, and water. A coemulsifier may be included at low levels, less than 0.5% by weight, the weight ratio of the ester to the emulsifier being greater than 1:1.

Abstract: A surfactant cleansing block suitable for placement in a toilet tank or other water-containing reservoir, comprising a hydrated cellulosic binder and a surfactant, and processes for making same, especially by extrusion of a homogeneous blend of said binder and said surfactant.
