Abstract: Optical spectrum filtering devices displaying minimal angle dependence or angle insensitivity are provided. The filter comprises a localized plasmonic nanoresonator assembly having a metal material layer defining at least one nanogroove and a dielectric material disposed adjacent to the metal material layer. The dielectric material is disposed within the nanogroove(s). The localized plasmonic nanoresonator assembly is configured to funnel and absorb a portion of an electromagnetic spectrum in the at least one nanogroove via localized plasmonic resonance to generate a filtered output having a predetermined range of wavelengths that displays angle insensitivity. Thus, flexible, high efficiency angle independent color filters having very small diffraction limits are provided that are particularly suitable for use as pixels for various display devices or for use in anti-counterfeiting and cryptography applications.

  • Patent number: 9545611
Abstract: This invention provides a method of initiating chain reaction in a chain reaction medium including (a) a macroinitiator and (b) chain reactants selected from monomers, reactive oligomers, reactive diluents and derivatives thereof and mixtures of the forgoing. The macroinitiator includes a multidentate anchor segment coordinated with a magnetic nanoparticle through more than one bond, and a chain reaction initiator segment bound to the multidentate anchor and providing a weak bond that can be cleaved to initiate a chain reaction. The method further comprises subjecting the chain reaction medium to an alternating current magnetic field to vibrate the magnetic nanoparticle and thereby cleave the weak bond, the cleavage resulting in the initiation of a chain reaction involving the chain reactants.

  • Publication number: 20170011536
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, systems, and software for extended phase correction in phase sensitive Magnetic Resonance Imaging. A magnetic resonance image or images may be loaded into a memory. Two vector images A and B associated with the loaded image or images may be calculated either explicitly or implicitly so that a vector orientation by one of the two vector images at a pixel is substantially determined by a background or error phase at the pixel, and the vector orientation at the pixel by the other vector image is substantially different from that determined by the background or error phase at the pixel. A sequenced region growing phase correction algorithm may be applied to the vector images A and B to construct a new vector image V so that a vector orientation of V at each pixel is substantially determined by the background or error phase at the pixel.

  • Publication number: 20170007691
Abstract: It was found that bacteria belonging to the genus Clostridium induce accumulation of regulatory T cells (Treg cells) in the colon. Moreover, the present inventors found that regulatory T cells (Treg cells) induced by from these bacteria suppressed proliferation of effector T-cells. From these findings, the present inventors found that the use of bacteria belonging to the genus Clostridium or a physiologically active substance derived therefrom made it possible to induce proliferation or accumulation of regulatory T cells (Treg cells), and further to suppress immune functions.
