  • Patent number: 9544764
Abstract: A technique is presented for controlling behavior tracking by mobile apps executing on a mobile computing device. A set of profiles are managed by a privacy manager, where each profile represents a different isolated execution environment on the mobile computing device and defines a set of privacy rules governing an application while executing in an associated execution environment. Prior to launching the app, a user of the app is prompted by the privacy manager to select a profile for the app from the set of profiles. The privacy manager in turn applies the set of privacy rules associated with the selected profile to the app during execution of the app on the mobile computing device.

  • Patent number: 9541475
Abstract: Apparatus and methods for size-specific detection of particles entrained in fluids are provided. A particle size selector separates particles entrained in a sample fluid stream using a curved channel. Shroud fluid streams are interposed between the sample fluid stream and walls of the channel. Centrifugal forces arising from fluid flow through the curved channel separate differently-sized particles into different transverse sections of the channel. A detector downstream from the particle size selector specifically detects particles in one or more transverse sections of the channel.

  • Patent number: 9534228
Abstract: This invention relates to methods for altering cell proliferation in a plant by modulating the expression of an endogenous plant gene whose expression product affects cell proliferation. These methods can be used to modify plant characteristics, such as seed size. In particular, the invention provides methods for modifying cell proliferation in the integuments and/or seed coats of a plant by inhibiting expression of endogenous gene encoding Auxin response factor 2 (ARF2/MNT) or an orthologue thereof, such that the number of cells in the integuments and/or seed coat is increased, resulting in increased seed size. The plant or plant propagating material can be transformed, e.g., with a nucleic acid construct, to increase or decrease the expression of endogenous genes or the orthologues thereof that affect cell proliferation. The invention also relates to modified plants and reproducible plant material produced by the methods, and nucleic acid constructs for use in such methods.
