Abstract: Novel paclitaxel trihydrates. The paclitaxel trihydrates described herein are obtained by recrystallizing paclitaxel from a water/alcohol solution. Such recrystallization is known in the art to yield the one previously known paclitaxel crystalline trihydrate polymorph. Formation of the novel paclitaxel trihydrates described herein is induced by subjecting paclitaxel trihydrate crystals to an elevated pressure. As evidenced by NMR spectra, the novel paclitaxel trihydrates described herein have three-dimensional structures and/or water coordination geometry structures that are distinct from any previously known paclitaxel trihydrate.

Abstract: An elastomeric stamp is used to deposit material on a non-planar substrate. A vacuum mold is used to deform the elastomeric stamp and pressure is applied to transfer material from the stamp to the substrate. By decreasing the vacuum applied by the vacuum mold, the elasticity of the stamp may be used to apply this pressure. Pressure also may be applied by applying a force to the substrate and/or the stamp. The use of an elastomeric stamp allows for patterned layers to be deposited on a non-planar substrate with reduced chance of damage to the patterned layer.

Abstract: When write data D is high rewritten data, a PC 10 controls a DRAM 24 to store the write data D (steps S100 and S110). When the write data D is not the high rewritten data, the PC 10 outputs an RRAM write request signal and the write data D to an SSD (step S100 and S120). A memory controller of the SSD input the RRAM write request signal controls the RRAM and an SRAM to store the write data D in the RRAM or the SRAM. This treatment enables data stored in the DRAM to be rewritten frequently. Therefore, the decrease of number of times of refresh operation of the DRAM and the decrease of power consumption are accomplished.
Abstract: A microarray includes a solid substrate having a surface, the surface having a plurality of binding spots and a plurality of reaction moieties bound to the binding spots. A reaction moiety includes a plurality of polyacetylene monomers, the polyacetylene monomers having a first coupling region and a second coupling region, the first coupling region having a first functional group operable to bind to the binding spot and the second coupling region comprising a second functional group operable to bind to an accessory molecule; and an accessory molecule having a binding region and an analyte reaction region, the analyte reaction region operable to selectively bind to the target analyte, and the binding region operable to bind to the second coupling region of the polyacetylene monomer. Upon binding a target analyte with the reaction moiety, a color change from the polyacetylene monomer occurs and the reaction moiety produces fluorescence.

Abstract: A method of determining common three-dimensional structural features of protein surfaces is provided, as is use of representations of these common structures in molecular database searching and in designing focused molecular libraries. The method is particularly concerned with the analysis and representation of protein surfaces such as b-turns, loops and contact surfaces. In one form, the method identifies common locations and orientations of amino acid side-chains, simplified as C?-C? vectors. In another form, the method identifies common regions of surface charge represented by grid points in three-dimensional space. Further provided are common three dimensional structural features of proteins that can be used to search molecular databases for the purposes of identifying molecules that match these common three dimensional structural features.
