    Abstract: An image pattern recognition method detects a pattern in a sequence of video images or individual images from detected interest points. Feature vectors are extracted with video data from video regions around the interest points. A forest of decision trees is used to compute a set of bin values in histograms with bins corresponding to leaf nodes of the decision trees. Each bin value is a sum of contributions computed for individual interest points. Non-binary decision functions are used to compute the contributions and node dependent scale values are used to compute the arguments of the non-binary decision functions. The node dependent scale values may be computed from standard deviations of feature values found for the nodes, multiplied by a factor that is common to the nodes. This factor may be adjusted by feedback so that it can be set differently for different detection classes.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of evaluating quality of a degraded speech signal received from an audio transmission system conveying a reference speech signal. The method comprises sampling said signals into reference and degraded signal frames, and forming frame pairs by associating reference and degraded signal frames with each other. For each frame pair a difference function representing disturbance is provided, which is then compensated for specific disturbance types for providing a disturbance density function. Based on the density function of a plurality of frame pairs, an overall quality parameter is determined. The method provides for compensating the overall quality parameter for the effect that the impact of noise in frequency bands where there is only marginal speech activity when compared to natural speech is not correctly modelled in the current measurement standards.

    Abstract: A protective wall for use in a structure such as a ship comprises a first and second metal layer, with an armor plate in between and layers of elastomeric material between the armor plate and the first and second metal layer respectively. The first and second metal layer having a higher ductility than the armor plate, the armor plate being mounted between the first and second metal layer in a way that allows the first and second metal layers to stretch relative to armor steel plate at least in response to forces resulting from impact by fragments from an explosion. When an explosion occurs in a space bounded by the protective wall, the first and second metal layer deflect under the pressure pulses due to blasts, stretching relative to the armor plate. The armor plate blocks high speed fragments.

Classification is applied to image content from different foreground positions in an image. The set of classes comprising a first and second class corresponding players of different teams. A condition is tested whether the results are on mutually opposite sides of a reference position and a distance between collected positions or distances between the reference position and the first and second collected positions exceed a threshold value. When the test shows that the condition is met, a preceding video sequence is selected, for example for display.

In this way performing a RACHSA procedure after selecting a SA cell becomes unnecessary, the random access time is shortened and the uplink resources (at the selected SA-cell) and the uplink transmissions from the terminal are more effectively used.
