  • Publication number: 20170191158
Abstract: A method of depositing an atomic layer on a substrate comprises supplying a precursor gas from a precursor-gas supply comprised in a drum; the drum being rotatable with respect to a sealing piece that receives gas from a gas source. One of the drum or sealing piece comprising one or more gas feed channels in fluid connection with the precursor-gas supply and the other of the drum or sealing piece comprises one or more circumferential grooves in its surface sealed by the one of the drum or sealing piece thereby preventing a fluid flowpath in radial direction and leaving a fluid flow path in circumferential direction. At least one sealed groove is provided with one or more separations separating adjacent zones of process gas feeds in the sealed groove, thus allowing zones to provide for mutually differing process gas compositions to have the precursor gas react near, e.g. on, the substrate thus depositing a stack of atomic layers of a gradient composition.

  • Patent number: 9688778
Abstract: A process for producing thermally inhibited starch is described resulting in a visco-stable starch product with improved whiteness. The process comprises pretreating a dry starch with an alkaline solution in a water-miscible solvent, adjusting the water content of the starch to below 12 wt. %, heating the starch at a temperature between 140 and 190° C., preferably between 140 and 180° C., and cooling and optionally further processing the starch. The thermally inhibited starch has the advantages of not being chemically modified. The process is more flexible and faster than conventional inhibition processes.

  • Patent number: 9687712
Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for providing feedback to a user on his or her running style or running technique. The system employs a pressure sensitive surface to record a gait line of the center of pressure exerted by the user's foot on an underlying surface during a footstep period. In case of a fore or mid-foot landing the gait line may be observed to move backwards with respect to the sagittal plane. From a backwards-going gait line two time stamps are determined. The first timestamp T1 is the time that the foot strikes the ground. The second timestamp T2 is the time that the gait line reaches the most backward position. From the time difference between these two timestamps a loading time dT is determined. The reactivity of the running style describes the viscoelastic behavior of the muscle-tendon unit and may be calculated as a function of this loading time and/or the distance moved by the center of pressure backwards towards the heel.

  • Patent number: 9681826
Abstract: Method, device and system for measuring a degree of torsion or bending of a joint. The method comprises the steps of attaching a sensor (56) to the limbs that are joined by the joint, measuring an output signal of the sensor during torsion or bending at the joint, and a final step of relating said output signal of the sensor to a degree of torsion or bending. The sensor comprises an electrically conductive loop (51), with loop parts that run from one limb to other and back in the loop, the area of said loop at least partially covering both limbs from one limb to the other. The limbs may be limbs of the human or animal body, for instance limbs at a knee. The sensor further comprises an output unit (57) for providing an output signal that is a measure for the inductance of the loop. Calibration data for the sensor may be determined by detecting the output signal of the sensor for a well defined degree of torsion or bending at said joint under static conditions and storing the calibration data.

  • Publication number: 20170161314
Abstract: A verification device operates to evaluate consistency of input values from a client device used by a server to execute a task. In an example the task may be installation of software into the client device, and the consistency evaluation of the input values may involve evaluating whether identifiers used to obtain attribute values of components of the client device for the installation apply to the same client device. To initiate execution of the task, the client device commands a plurality of data source servers to supply the attribute values. The data source servers return response messages defining the attribute values associated with the identifiers supplied by the client device. The client device supplies the response messages to the server for use in the execution of the task.

  • Patent number: 9656440
Abstract: A method and system provide a releasable substrate on a carrier. The method includes providing the carrier with a bonding layer of radiation curable adhesive; selectively irradiating a first area subsection of the bonding layer with a first radiation for selectively at least partially curing the first area subsection; bringing a substrate in contact with the first area subsection and a second area subsection of the bonding layer; and curing the second area subsection in contact with the substrate for forming an adhesion area between the second area subsection and the substrate. The first area subsection forms a release area with an adhesion force between the bonding layer and the substrate lower in the release area than in the adhesion area as a result of the first area subsection being more cured than the second area subsection prior to being in contact with the substrate.

  • Patent number: 9659565
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of evaluating intelligibility of a degraded speech signal received from an audio transmission system conveying a reference speech signal. The method comprises sampling said reference and degraded signals into reference and degraded signal frames, and forming frame pairs by associating reference and degraded signal frames with each other. For each frame pair a difference function representing disturbance is provided, which is then compensated for specific disturbance types for providing a disturbance density function. Based on the density function of a plurality of frame pairs, an overall quality parameter is determined. The method provides for weighing disturbances in silent periods dependent on the loudness of the reference signal.

Abstract: Different quality of service policies are enforced for packets from traffic streams of different type in a communication network, according to the type of traffic types of traffic. A learning phase and an operation phase are provided. The learning phase teaching by example of characteristics that must be used to distinguish the different types of traffic. In the learning phase, an indication is received of a quality of service policy that is required for user applications of a selected type. An indication is provided indicating execution of a user application of said type in a user domain and characteristics of packet traffic are derived from inspection of packets transmitted through the communication network to and/or from the user domain during the indicated execution.
