  • Patent number: 9820134
Abstract: The invention enables a device to discover one or more other devices within range for a device-to-device mode of communication. This proximity discovery may trigger a target device, e.g. to start listening to signals from a source device or perform any other action based on the proximity discovery like e.g. charging at a toll gate. A source device that wants to be discovered broadcasts a message including an identifier or a representation of the identifier. This identifier may be an identifier of the target device to be contacted or of the source device or a derivation thereof or a common security association used by a set of peers. The target device compares the broadcast identifier with a known identifier to establish proximity discovery.

  • Publication number: 20170317356
Abstract: A system and method for manufacturing a micropillar array (20). A carrier (11) is provided with a layer of metal ink (20i). A high energy light source (14) irradiates the metal ink (20i) via a mask (13) between the carrier (11) and the light source. The mask is configured to pass a cross-section illuminated image of the micropillar array onto the metal ink (20i), thereby causing a patterned sintering of the metal ink (20i) to form a first subsection layer (21) of the micropillar array (20) in the layer of metal ink (20i). A further layer of the metal ink (20i) is applied on top of the first subsection layer (21) of the micropillar array (20) and irradiated via the mask (13) to form a second subsection layer (21) of the micropillar array on top. The process is repeated to achieve high aspect ratio micropillars 20p.

  • Patent number: 9800908
Abstract: In an embodiment, synchronization of data processing by a first and second receiver is enabled by the first receiver processing data units of a first broadcast stream, with a play-out delay ?tp defining a time interval between transmission of a data unit to the first receiver and the processing of the data unit by the first receiver. Transmission of data units of a second broadcast stream is initiated to the second receiver, a common timeline correlating one or more data unit in the first stream with one or more corresponding data unit in the second stream. One or more data units is selected from stored data units corresponding to the second stream. At least part of the selected data units have corresponding data units of the first stream that have been transmitted to the first receiver but that have not been processed by the first receiver due to the play-out delay.

  • Patent number: 9791259
Abstract: Distance to a target is sensed using a common path interferometer, wherein a first fraction of light from a light source is collected after reflection by a partially reflective element together with reflection from a target of a second fraction of light from the light source that has been transmitted by the partially reflective element. The collected light is split in two parts, both containing a part of the first fraction and part of the reflection from the target. The parts are fed through a first and second optical branch path to an input side of a three-way optical coupler respectively. Light from at three terminals on a second side of the N way coupler is fed to respective light intensity detectors. Information representing an excess distance traveled by the first fraction from detection signals determined by the least three light intensity detectors.

  • Publication number: 20170295088
Abstract: A path discovery process is provided for discovering a lowest cost combination of a plurality of paths from the source node to the destination node via links between pairs of nodes along the paths. A path discovery messages from a source node is forwarded through the network. Prior to forwarding the path discovery message a node tests one or more conditions for disabling the forwarding. Upon receiving an instance of the path discovery message, this may include testing whether no other instance of the path discovery message has both smaller cost and a previous path that contains only nodes that occur also in the path of the received instance. Furthermore, this may include testing whether a destination of the path discovery message was also a node to which a preceding node along the path has a further link, and a cost of the path from the preceding node to the next node via said further link is not larger than the cost of the path from the preceding node to the next node.
